So, I just switched back to my S10+ last night. For the 26th time :). Here is the most annoying thing, I have alerts going off on my iPad for apps at least 10 minutes before the S10. It is really consistent...for some reason, Apple devices get the alerts as they happen, vs Android where there is a delay. Also, I have Arlo cameras...and there is a crazy bug with the android app that causes you to get double or triple alerts when they do finally come in. been through all the forums, everyone complains about it..no fix.

this is why I always end up going back...crap like this.

Yeah quite annoying reason I moved from the S10 as well, put that in alongside the lack of a decent sports watch and how bluetooth connections are without the H1 chip... And BAAM back to the XS I am.

I wonder why this happens to some people and not others. I tested this out last night and I actually got some alerts before my iPhone XS.

Yeah, I use my iPhone 6s as my main phone and my S5 as my secondary and sometimes, I get a notification first on one device and other times, I'll get it first on the other. Guess it just depends

It still annoys me now that this was the case with my S10...now i have max and two pros and they all come through same time. It’s a damn shame and i don’t know why the android system lets it happen.

I moved over from my iPhone 6 to a Samsung S8 last year... I simply couldn't afford Apple anymore. My iPhone 6 was getting unbearably slow (Though iOS 12 came out soon after and helped that point a bit). But anyway, price.. The S8 was 1 year on the market when I bought it and it cost me 440 euro. With Apple I wouldn't get anything for that price. Perhaps an old model refurb. The S9 was too expensive and mainly the same thing with worse battery life (exynos version).

But it was a pretty seamless transition to my surprise. I never used iCloud anyway as I'm a multi-OS person both on desktop and mobiles/tablets (I already had Android tablets and had Android phones a few years ago). I use Macs too but also Windows and Linux so I never really even tried features like iCloud, Airdrop, handoff/continuity etc.

What I love most about the S8 is DeX. Having a PC in your pocket when you need it is great. Samsung also has a great watch companion now, the Galaxy Watch Active which is nice and cheap and still performs great. And I love the full NFC function, now I can log into SSH with OpenPGP keys on my Yubikey. This was a big miss for me and it's so useful especially on DeX.

What I like the least is the app security that's just lower on Android (once you give filesystem permissions an app can root around everywhere). But I use Samsung's secure folder feature for my banking apps as a mitigation.

I couldn't even go back anymore now even if I wanted to because of my dependency on the features I mentioned above.

I have friends who have the S10 and are on the same carrier as I am with my Iphone Xs, and their LTE speeds and signal reception have been a lot better than mine especially in spotty areas. Even the office wifi that we use has better reception and speeds on the S10, which is why I want apple to step up their game this year when it comes to such stuff in a smartphone.

Not to segway the conversation. But, I often see posts where people say, “I switch to Android, due to the price of Apple iPhone...”. To be honest, the likes of Samsung an such, are her enough the same price as an iPhone, no?

Currently, I am looking to purchase an S10+. And, well, it is virtually the same price as an iPhone XS Max...

In europe its 1000 vs 1150. But Resellers give more discounts on the S10. U can find it for 600-700

while the phone design is nice as well as reception and battery I’m not a fan of Android
Also it’s to much of a change once you’ve been with Apple and their ecosystem

Switched to S10, tried hard to love it... even sold my Series 2 Apple Watch..... but alas i'm back. Just wasn't for me as nice and all of a device that it is to look at. I'm not all that into customization, and the apps on IOS just work and look better (in my opinion of course).

End of the day it's a personal choice anyways - glad i gave it a go.

I agree with your last sentence. If you’ve been with iOS for so long, it’s very difficult to make a transition to android and fully adapt. They’re just so drastic in differences, unless somebody would own both an android and iOS device, they could have the best of both operating platforms, but for the average consumer, it’s one or the other, especially if you have multiple Apple products that you’re already invested in.

This is true. Apple's newest phones are really lacking in the signal department for sure. Both my S10 and Pixel get better speeds than the iPhones I had earlier this year and it's not even close.

I did - can't remember if I've posted here already. LOL

I switched to an S10e in March due to a huge $550 trade-in value on my iPhone 8. I'll admit the reception was pretty nice - I live in the middle of nowhere in the Ozarks, and I'd consistently get 2 bars where my 8 would get 1 bar.

I switched back in the form of an XS last week. As nice as reception was, the constant app crashes, phone restart, dropped calls, BT instability, etc. just made it untenable to continue.

In the UK the S10+ starts at £899 for 128GB and the Xs max starts at £1099 for 64GB.

Secondhand S10+ prices have dropped like a rock only three months after launch.

To be honest I don’t think Samsung could charge 1k as a starting price in the UK as people have always seen them as cheaper than the iPhone and that’s how they get pushed at the carriers.

Yup, another 3 months and the s10 should be cheap as chips.
Demand for 1k Samsung phones just isn’t there.

When they come out they certainly are roughly the same price yes.

However a couple of months down the road the Samsung starts dropping incredibly fast. By the time the next model comes out the existing model is nearly down to half the price, whereas Apple forces resellers to keep the pricing up for the whole year.

And when Apple introduces a new model the old one drops down $100 or so, where a Samsung old model is less than half of its introduction price. I bought my S8 for 400 when the S9 was out a couple months.

Because of Samsungs price increase , the 50% price drop is now only 3 months after launch with the s10+ vs a 50% drop in 1 year with the s8.

Around 1 year after launch the s10 might lose 80% or more of its original value.

Those that actually managed to return their s10 are very lucky they didn’t have to try and sell it second hand.

Samsung should have at the very least included ufs3.1 instead of ufs 2 with the s10 for the price that Samsung is currently charging for their latest flagship.

These seem too cheap. If it looks to good to be true......

Or people just want to get rid of it with a quick sale and are willing to take a hit before prices fall further.

Most android users that picked up an s10 in the forums at launch have moved on to other devices since then.
That’s what this thread is about.

There is even a poster on here that is having difficulty selling his s10, I believe he listed his only three weeks after launch. His current price is around £550 with a bunch of freebies.

Edit: it’s actually down to £490 now.
Is £490 still considered too cheap?
