I got my pre order wed, Thursday i returned it. My situation was a bit unique, i opened a new business line and wanted to give the s10 a try.

Its a fantastic device, however most of my complaints were with OS, fingerprint id was hit or miss, notificatiosn bothered me or lack theroff, i sometimes ended up missing emails or txt messages sent hours ago....just used to iOS i guess. Amongst other things such as i just prefer simplicity of ios layout and how fluid it is, and things just worked. I found android apps like instagram were somewhat less polished.

I ended up switching to the X. Was a tmo promo for new lines. Felt great within minutes. This is must be my fifth time giving android a try, not for me. And im an ex blackberry guy.

I recently switched to the iPhone - an XS Max - after using Android phones (and tablets) from their inception. I switched to the iPad almost 4 years ago and the adjective "more polished" is what I used when describing the big difference to me between Android and iOS devices and what drove me to the iPhone. I'd also say that iOS-based apps also tend to be more sophisticated than Android apps (recognizing that's a generalization).

I'm skipping the S series phone this year simply because my Note 9/S9+ is still doing it's job perfectly. I even still use my Note 8.

Samsing/Gogle has really perfected the OS since Oreo is there is absolutely no lag in any of these phones.

I did upgrade both my Note 9/S9+ to Pie but decided to go back to Oreo yesterday just because I prefer it over Pie.

I still have my two XS Max on AT&T and I grab any one of these iPhones/Android phones as my daily. I like switching between them and I have sims in all of them so I can just grab one and go.

This has nothing to do with the topic.......But I just had to say your avatar fly tricked the hell out of me. I literally snap a towel at my screen and now i'm sitting here cracking up lol. Yup, its that time, i'm going to bed.

I used Galaxy phones for several years and think the S10 is a really good phone.

You can pretty much do everything with Android EXCEPT for iMessages if you aren't too deep in the Apple ecosystem. That being said I switched back after the iPhone X came out and am planning on sticking around with Apple for a while.

I flip back and forth between Apple and Android. The ecosystem business is irrelevant to me as I don't find integration of devices as meaningful or useful. I have the Max now but will probably get the next iteration of a Sammy flagship (Note) next fall/winter.

I'm sorry. I was reading this thread a few hours before I posted and forgot what thread I was even reading when I came back and replied. I wish I could delete my post above.

Huh? No, no, your post was fine. My comment was about your avatar, how it tricked me to think there was a real fly on my screen when I was tired. Reread the post above and you'll understand.

So you're using different numbers!?

How many daily users does Instagram have? How many years has it been out now?

It's absolutely unbelievable that it can remain so rough around the edges on Android...

I am going back to my XS Max. I just think that right now it's not the right time to spring for the S10 or S10+ when the phones will depreciate in price big time. I'll leave iOS eventually, but for now, it's WWDC that is a telltale sign for me. The S10e has too many compromises for me to move forward with it. Good phone, just not right for me.

Here’s my tale of woes LOL.

I went to Best Buy on Saturday to see if they had any unlocked S10+ at first I was told no but then one of the employees pulled out a Ceramic Black S10+ that they had ordered for their brother but surprise surprise he wasn’t getting cause he wanted to stay on iPhone LOL.

I get it home unbox it and first impression, this thing is GORGEOUS!! I set it up and start using thinking that hey ONE Ui is actually pretty good it’s really fluid. The hardware is second to none and for me the fingerprint sensor works pretty flawlessly.

Now we get to the Android software which annoys the ***** out of me. First thing I did was try to get visual voicemail set up but of course it’s not embedded within the phone of course not that would be to easy. For me I can’t stand Android’s design language. Here’s some comparison shots.

So adding keyboard shortcuts to Android is a major PITA, Samsung is the closest to iOS with its keyboard but I downloaded Gboard, Chrooma and Swiftkey and they all sucked at this.

Adding a shortcut in Samsung’s brings up this stupid warning if the shortcut is the same as the phrase in iOS this isn’t a problem so again I don’t understand Android’s limitation on this (I thought it was supposed to be “open”)

The AR Emoji are truly trash compared to Memoji IMHO.

Finally Music controls on the S10 lock screen vs iOS. Why is the music player so much better on iOS than Android?

More power to those who love Android but my goodness for all the fluff about how Android is so open and customizable it sure can’t do some of the basics worth crap.

That’s why I’ll be returning the S10+. Sorry for the long post haha.

Maybe I’m too old (mid thirties) but I honestly don’t care about Instagram, snapchat and Facebook. As long as I can see the posts on Instagram and Facebook that’s fine by me. I don’t even seen the point of Snapchat at all.

Isn’t that just the Apple Music app on android?

I think other music players have much better lock screen controls.

I’ll tell you what’s annoying about media controls on iOS. It can only display one type of media in the playing now tile. So say if I was listening to a podcast and then switch to music. The music will replace the podcast in the now playing tile in control centre. I might want to come back and finish the podcast later on. To do that on iOS I have to go back into the podcast app and start playback again. On android the podcast player controls and the music playback controls stay in the notification panel until you swipe them away. In fact you can have multiple media controls in the notification panel at one time, there for you to come back to whenever you want. If you don’t want them simply swipe them away.

Even on iOS after awhile the last thing you were listening to goes away from the now playing tile in control centre.

Animoji are better but the AR emoji are more versatile. You get stickers and you can use them in any messaging app. None of my contacts use iMessage even those with iPhones so I can’t even use the Animoji/Memoji.

Nope they don’t I used Google play music and Spotify it looks exactly the same. It’s a limitation set by Android

yeah I saw that. Now that is something I wish iOS did but not as annoying to me as the former

you can send people Animoji/Memoji who don’t have iPhones they’ll just play as a movie just like I was sending my friends my AR Emoji stuff but to do any with the the AR Emoji you have to record a video.

Yes. Wow that’s crappy, you get charged for sending MMS?!

Even if your recipient is a local number but he is overseas roaming, he may get charged for receiving the SMS.

Now you know why nobody uses iMessage everywhere around the world. You in US may not have friends overseas or you don't know how other telcos operate, so imessage seems super duper to you.

Like I said sms/MMS integration has existed in 3rd party messengers long before imessage. But this integration was removed due to this reason

Huh, what? Traveling internationally requires one to be prepared. Nobody is going to unintentionally receive a text message unless you don’t prepare. This has nothing to do with iMessage. So just spreading more fud.

Yeah lol, I use iMessage with my son in NZ as it’s free, if I text it’s 55c a pop.

I am constantly switching back and forth between iOS (Xs Max) and Android (S9+).

Curious, do you simply keep iMessage and FaceTime off? I do; makes it easier for me to switch on the fly.
