I'm trying to upgrade but after I click 'Continue' in the App Store, nothing happens except for a spinning wheel in the top left... But it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

The exact same thing is happening to me. I just got home from work....

I decided to try and update just now and getting the same problem.

I click download, it asks me if I want the full installer, I click continue, it pretends to load for a bit and then stops.

Can't do anything

Did anybody get a Java update thing immediately after completing installation of the App Store version over the 1st GM? I installed a Java update via the App Store on Oct. 15 during the GM, and I assume this the exact same.

I restarted after, and I got the install prompt again, so I installed it 3 times?

Restarted and shut down a few more times and didn't continue to get the install message on log in, but it's just weird that I got it twice (or maybe 3 times including the one during the GM).

Is it safe to assume that everybody who is reporting the App Store issue installed GM1 from a torrent?

Well, its getting a little closer now. It's asking me to login, then gives me the error 1004. Any ideas?

Happening to me as well. Really frustrating...anybody know of a fix for this? Or will things fix themselves?

If it doesn't work in the next couple of days, I'll just find it on Usenet/Torrent and upgrade like I did to GM 1.

I am having the very same issue even on a dev installed dp 8 so i just think they underestimated the draw of free to every mac in the fleet.

i reside on a slot of a friends account. So the insaller i used was not a torrent for that machine it was a legit copy. The update is still having issues on that machine so i do not think it is a install issue and if it is then go to another mac get the installer and install over. I am just going to wait for there server farm to cool down and give it a go tomorrow or the next day

Guys, I had exactly the same issue earlier tonight, until I tried clicking the "free upgrade" button from "top charts" section of Mac App Store, then it became the green "download" button and now I'm downloading the installer.

Hope it will help. :)

ok so 13A603 (GM2) is Public Release and confirmed by lots that it can be upgraded over GM1.

If you were running GM1 then how did you see the "Free upgrade" button to begin with?

I have no idea tbh and I did have GM1 to beging with. I was just getting desperate and clicking around. When in the top charts I noticed Mavericks showing "free upgrade" instead of "download" in the app page. So I tried and it began downloading.

The first time I saw it, it said "Free Upgrade" but after I cancelled it because I didn't want to upgrade at the time it started showing up as "Download" and now it won't do anything once I hit continue. Not sure how to get back to the way it was before

I was just clicking around... and for a SPLIT SECOND it read "FREE UPGRADE" but then was gone. Is it maybe not us early GM adopters, but a rolling release for downloaders?

Cant Download from App Store

I have GM1 installed and am trying to download GM2 from the app store but it won't do anything! i restarted and tried gain but nothing. Once i Click download on the App Store there is a running circle in App Store Title Bar but not indication anywhere if Mavericks installer is downloading or not! i was prompted that i already have mavericks install and i opted to download the installer!

Anyone else getting this? anywhere else i can download the installer from???

I am on GM1 and downloading public from app store. I got pointed to it in the app store from this link though http://www.apple.com/osx/

now I am thinking, perhaps the people having trouble downloading didn't do the GM1 clean install with the recovery partition aka didn't make their flash drive installer with the terminal command. Just a thought.

A recovery update popped up for me today after Mavericks had already been released. I did that update and now that I think about it, the Free Upgrade button might have disappeared after that.

I also installed this... and can't seem to download the final GM via the Mac App Store. it could be unrelated but it's odd. Although, looking at the App Store log file doesn't seem to indicate where it might be failing.

I think we may have botched it with that...

Might have to either download from a torrent or wait until 10.9.1 comes out and hopefully that brings us fully up to date

I'm curious what would happen if one were to boot from the Recovery partition now and use it to re-install OS X then...

For those who struggle with GM1 to Final download => Open AppStore with alt pressed down. The click download also with alt pressed down.
