Sennheiser MM 400's. Bluetooth works great.

I have a pair of Sennheiser PXC 360 BTs, they are great. Bluetooth is OK, but try using them with the wire or using an apt-x dongle, and they really sound great. But for walking around outside, you wont even notice the difference.

I also have a pair of gunmetal VModa Crossfades which look great and are really bass-y for trance etc.

In-ear wise, i use vmoda remix remotes, affordable, and also pretty bassy. The red pair look the best IMO.

hmmm.. thats like £500 worth of headphones o_O

I've already put out a lot of money on the iPad 2, PS Anti-glare for the front, ghost armor for the back, and a Portenzo case,

With that in mind, what are some good/great (I understand in my range I can't find "the best") earphones/plugs/buds I can buy in the 140-160 USD range?

I've been using Sony MDR-V6 Monitor Series. The MDR-V6 were introduced in the 1980s and became popular with sound engineers and DJ's. I won't buy anything else on the market. Please don't waste your money on Beats.

I've used these Bose on-ear headphones for probably a little over two years. I know there are a lot of people who probably don't like Bose and would say they could find a better product for the money, but I've really enjoyed these headphones and love them.

I've used these basically every day since I've owned them, and I've never regretted purchasing them.

Totally agree with you

I have these and the Ime2's and love them. I don't mind paying a premium for a product that's of good quality. I use both for either my iPad 1g or iPhone 4

Thanks
Kris

Beats (except for the original solos) are high quality headphones. Some people don't like them because they're main stream and expensive. Funny how the negativity is on a MAC forum when they get the same rep.

Beats are sick, i dont know what ur smoking, but i have two sets and you can't beat the SQ.

I don't think most question the sound quality, it's the build quality that's leaves a lot to be desired. Cheap plastic and too much $$$$

There are better head phones for a lot less $$$ to choose from. Maybe not as trendy, but for those not in High School or who blindly follow the advertising hype, many better choices exist especially at the $300 price point.

The Beats base ruins the overall listening experience by washing out the vocals. They probably come in the nicest packaging I've ever seen though. Quite contradictory in fact. The product itself is incredibly cheap and the materials and construction advocates this.

Just got these Jaybird Sportsband Bluetooth Headphones today. Paired right out of the box with iPad 2 and watched "Armored" on Netflix Streaming with them - no noticeable video/audio lag which I'm happy about.

The fit is great, very snug. I've never been a fan of "over the neck" so these work great for me.

Once you go wireless it's hard to go back.

Thanks!

I went with these guys in Midnight Black!

Ordered Directly from Jaybird.

Biggest appeal was modest price, good reviews, and wireless/bluetooth+++

What are you looking for? Earphones or IEM? Are you going to be running an amp?

Do you want something that is very analytical or is just enjoyable with everything you throw at it?

If you want something that will sound great on your ipad without amplification UE Triple Fi 10's are currently on sale at amazon for $189 and are worth the extra $30 IMO if you can splurge it. They are fun balanced IEM's that sound good with pretty much any kind of music.

Was debating between some Bose, or going in on some Grado Rs2i or Rs1i but not sure if I'd need an amp, as well.

I ended up in Best Buy last night and picked up a pair of Klipsch Image One headphones and so far, they sound real nice with the iPad 2.

"Slick Tip" you can actually use Best Buy coupons on them where you can't with Bose for example.

Not sure if I'm going to keep them though or invest in truly "Studio Grade" cans.

I've spent a ton historically on Shure and UE in ears ($300-$400 models), and the cables always go in short order.

Here's what I use:

Etymotic Research MC3 headset with in-line controller:

0,1425,i=231904&sz=1,00.jpg

I use Comply Foam Tx-100 ear tips on this earphone.

if you buy any Etymotic Research headphone, which are the very best headphones for true audiophiles around, they have a deal where you can get custom ear molds for $100.00 with a coupon on their website. normally to go to an audiologist and get this kind of thing would be three times the cost.

I did this with the various ety's I have and think really it's the only way to go!

The Klipsch Image One are bass heavy, can be good or bad depending on preference, but still real nice for $150 or less. Real nice.

You could always compliment them with studio grade cans. Set for home and the Klipsch on the go.

You are better off getting the the equivalently priced Denon AH-1100 than the image ones. Sound is superior. Downside, the headband sticks out above the ear cups and makes you look pretty silly!
