Purchased the bumper case as well as the Zagg Invisible Shield, which was installed as soon as I left the Apple store. The Zagg kiosk at my local mall opened at the same time as the store did. Got the front and back shields put on, then put on the bumper. About an hour later I decided that it didn't look or feel right to me...so I took it off. So yeah, I'm rollin' caseless right now. I like it better that way...

I may go naked once I get my SquareTrade warranty active.

Until then:

I have an iFrogz from AT&T for now. I want the Otterbox because they type of work I do, I'm afraid my iPhone won't last very long.

no case for me. i had a couple for my 3G and i NEVER used them...i guess i just like the feel of the phone itself. as for scratches? well, i can live with a couple here and there. it's bound to happen, i suppose.

No case, no screen protector. iPhone cases remind me of a Burka, there may be a beautiful girl inside, but who would ever know?

Here's my reasoning as to why I'm going case-less, first off the screen protector will only inhibit the best feature of the new iPhone--screen clarity. Second, a good amount of my decision to stick with Apple products is that they are beautifully designed. Why hide that?

Worst case I might put a screen protector on the back side of the phone. But until it gets mangled up I'm not going to hide this phone. I've never had a noticeable scratch, dent, or chip on my original iPhone or 3G. Both of which never had a case on them.

I would ideally use it naked, but I can't stand the fingerprints and grease marks on the back. I'm getting a case so I can hold it the way I want and not wipe it down every 5 minutes :)

I think I will get a case like this

I just love to have a bulky phone and not see any of the design that allured me to it in the first place!

I think it will be super protected now

It is from otterbox.....i rock this on my hip

The girls love it man

Hmm...I would have guessed by wearing that out you'd guarantee it would be the only thing rocking on your hip. Ever.

No case. Have carried this and previous iPhones in front pants pocket and never scratched the screen. Don't keep anything else like keys or coins in same pocket with iPhone.

I have put this (gaffer tape) on the back:

and for the mockers, I used the same method on my 3GS and this is what it looked like after 11 months:

I'm using it without a case until I get my green bumper. Fedex says July 1st so I'm hoping for a few days earlier like my iPhone.

When I originally got my 3GS in august i had a basic rubbery sillicone case on it for 6 months. I then took it off and it seems the cotton in my hoodie pockets are too much for the glass to handle..
Quite clearly that's grit that got under the case.

Yep, it looked like that before and after. During though, it looks like s**t. You spend all that money on a nice looking phone and you stick gaffer tape all over it... FFS.

Are there any invisible shields that are better than others?

I have touched some that aren't nearly as good as others. Some that are thick and some that are thin as plastic wrap... What is considered the best?

I can't use a bumper, phone is too pretty... but a film cover may be a good idea.

I have had all four iPhones and never used a case. I carry it in my jeans pocket most of the time, and just make sure I don't have anything else in there. No keys, no change, nothing.

Never had any issues with scratches, except for very fine surface ones on the back. Never anything on the glass.

The biggest issue for me is not to drop it...

I carry mine in my jeans pocket or in one of those ancient iSocks in my messenger bag or seat bag on my bike. I have yet to find a case that doesn't allow SOME dirt in and cause more scratches than it would without one. Cases will prevent drop damage but not scratches. Gonna put film on the front and back of mine and call it a day methinks.

I agree. Every case that I have ever used creates more damage than I would without the case. I got a bumper for my iPhone 4 and tons of dust and lint from my pocket accumulates under the silicon and will undoubtedly result it abrasive scratches to the metal and glass.

I never used a case on my first generation iPhone and it held up great. I used cases on my 3G and 3GS and they got all scratched. I am going to go caseless with the iPhone 4 and use the bumper only if I am drinking at the bar haha.

Using that gaffer tape is like driving around in a new Ferrari covered with a plastic tarp. Might as well get a Microsoft Kin.
