I love my 3Gs.
I love TheSpaz.
There is absolutely no sarcasm in this post.
It is 110% legitimate and I whole-heartedly believe this thread is a great addition to MacRumors. We can all learn a lot from this thread and It's teachings. Good God I'm so glad that The Spaz still makes threads like this even after he returned his 3Gs. Every day I come on here to see what The Spaz has to say about the perfection that is his iPhone 3G. I was worried his returning of the 3Gs might make him become an introvert, but by the grace of God, he still has something to say.

I think I'm dying.
I must be.

You meant TheSpaz. Don't shame TheSpazz this way!

i switched and have since gone back, but this was when the iphone first came out. i bought it launch weekend and sold it sometime around december to go back to SE headsets which i preferred.

this was, of course, a long time ago when hacking was a bit more complicated, there was no app store, and the iphone couldn't do as much as it can today. i went back around March or so of that year and have been using it exclusively (well, not counting my blackberry for work) since. the hacking community has evolved so much and makes this so much easier (anyone else remember having to type in manual coding to get custom ringtones?!), plus apps, and the 3GS have really made an improvement in what the iphone was at its original launch.

kind of strange to think that i've essentially had the same phone for over two years. i used to buy a new unlocked handset every 3 months just to do it!

wow, after reading this post, things sure went downhill.

if you have a misaligned bezel or color problems on your screen..... why not take it back and get it replaced? don't think it's that big of a deal like you're making it out to be. i noticed right off the bat that the 3GS screen was much warmer than my old 1st gen (which was made public by just about everyone when the 3G was launched). picked up another one from Apple to replace it and while its still on the warm side, it's not so bad. i'm used to looking at a color corrected monitor for my photography, so i can see what you're getting at, but like others have said, there's somethings you just need to let go. this being one of them.

I do understand. The thing is though... I see these things without having to look closely. Unfortunately just picking up the iPhone with a misaligned bezel is enough for me to feel it and it doesn't feel comfortable in my hand feeling a smooth edge on one side and a sharp edge on the other side. Also, the yellow tint on the bottom was noticeable because just looking at MobileMail, the top blue bar and the bottom blue bar were really noticeably different colors. The top bar was blue and the bottom bar was blue/green. Also any time I was looking at anything white, it really stood out. Even when I went into landscape mode I could see the shift in color even more. It stood out even when I wasn't trying to see it. In a way, I feel cursed for having this ability to notice details without even trying.

It sucks... when I had the iPhone 3GS, I noticed that the graphics in the firmware were even different. Look at this. Yes, I saw that without even trying. I'm really good at those "I Spy" books.

I returned the 3GS three times. I didn't feel like going through the same hassle I went through last year. So to save my sanity, I simply returned it for good. It will be better for me... trust me. I'll just dwell on the flaws and that doesn't make me feel good at all.
