I can imagine a lot of people upgrading to 8 from 6s and previous. Curious to see how many 7 owners prefer the 8 over the X.

Yes. I'm not going to circumnavigate two different UIS between my IPHONE and IPAD.... no X for me.... happy with the 8+

If I don't get the X, I'm skipping this year. No way I'm upgrading a 7 to an 8. There's not enough in it for me.

The jury's out on whether to get the X here, and I think the gap between announcement and pre-order is going to cost Apple. People originally intending to get an X will see the launch of the 8/8+ go by - something they'd otherwise have been wrapped up in - and realise that they've still got a great phone. The more time for consideration and for hype to subside, the less chance people will feel like upgrading.

No way I'm spending $999 (or more), for the X. That's just way too much for so little improvements! It's insane that people are willing to spend that much money for a freaking phone.

And why is it called the X (ten)? What happened to 9?

X / Ten / Tenth Anniversary

Maybe we'll see all of the features of the 8 / 8 Plus / X merged into the 9 next year.

Well... considering the X is ugly, it's easy to choose the 8. When they get rid of that notch next year and the price makes more sense, the iPhone XI will become more attractive.

I am. I actually prefer the 8 Plus form factor. I’ll acclimate when and if I have to but as long as they continue these with current innards I’ll buy. When the new X line improves I’ll jump on the bandwagon. But I imagine they will make UX/UI adjustments to the X next year, so when that happens, I’ll join.

I'm going to the 8+ from the 7+. Originally wanted the X but after seeing side by sides with the 8+, I couldn't handle the skinny display. Once they come out with a bigger X next year I'll go for that but I'll be happy with the 8+ this year. Plus it comes out next week!

iPhone 7 here and preordered the iPhone 8. Main reason for me not picking the iPhone X, bezel doesn't bother me. I can keep using my iPhone 7 cases too.

Lol. I like to see the actual reviews from real customers. Not 4k enhanced editing reviews hahaha
I actually enjoy The Verge reviews as casual reading, but not for serious considerations. I like reading user thoughts on reddit.

Anda Tech's massive 28+ page reviews are awesome if you like to "geek out," I'm still waiting for the 10.5" iPad Pro one.

Other sites like iMore I don't care for. More and more they churn out filler (How to Take Pictures with you iPhone - open the camera app!!). And most of these sites just drink too much coolaid - if you will. I read these only if I want to feel good after a purchase because I know they'll rehash the keynote and tell me my device is the most amazing thing yet.

I have a 256GB 7 Plus and unless my wife wants my 7 Plus, I have no plans to upgrade to either 8 Plus or X. If she wants my 7 Plus, then I will buy an 8 Plus. She basically gave me two choices, buy her a SE to replace her 5S or upgrade myself to 8 Plus/X and give her my 7 Plus. She preferred the SE route because she prefers small screens and it saves more money.

Considering that in Germany the X will cost approx. USD 1,375 with tax, I will definitely upgrade to the 8 Plus (approx. (USD 1,085 with tax) from my 6S.

300 dollars for a better display and FaceID is just not worth it IMHO.

Besides the way the camera is "glued on" on the X just makes me cringe...

I agree with you. There's nothing with verge or macworld or ...MobileTechReview (definitely her), I do a lot of video recordings and sometimes it's hard to get an actual perspective from big reviewers. For example: 9to5mac or etc, they did a review on iphone 7 plus and video recording. But what they didn't mention was the hissing noise. I found out through hissing noise from actual consumers via youtube videos. When I bought ip7 plus, it was making that hissing noise while recording. So..it's hard to get a better perspective other than actual customers.

here's an example. I recorded the hissing from ip7 and shared it with MR members.

I remember that. Another example was the iPad Air 2's weird screen distortion if you pressed on the back in a specific place. I had a model so bad that you make that happen just by walking. An example here.

Yup. This is why Consumers' review have more credibility. Not saying that big reviwers don't. I'm just saying customers gives us a better understanding.

Definitely upgrading my Black 7+ to a Silver 8+ as all I was wanting was a Jet Black styled white iPhone, so here I am waiting and anticipating for the new 8. I haven't had a white iPhone since the 4s, so I am very excited to see what it looks like. Also, it almost seemed to be a waste if I didn't upgrade (I'm on the IUP) so why not get a new iPhone while I was at it. Was also not spending $1000+ on a phone, on-top the AppleCare, and on top of all the extra taxes just get a little notch on my phone. I am perfectly content with the bezels as I was several videos, so am happy with my decision!

You're just being rational. That's good.
