I'd say there are one or two folks who regrett buying the unibody MB and wishes they bought the NVidia whitebook instead,....same thing massively cheaper to buy !

And massively cheaper built as well. I am glad I paid top dollar for this solid build quality over that flimsy, cracking plastic.:D

Nope

I have a 12" PowerBook, and I think the macbook is too big- there's a lot to be said for portability. If you need the real estate, you've got Spaces and Exposé in the OS and the miniDP connector in hardware for connecting to a desktop monitor up to the 30"ACD. Go for portability. You won't regret it.

Really? I went from 12" powerbook to alu macbook and I freaking love it. It's actually lighter.

A few people I know have the Alu MBP and i have the Alu MB, i prefer the 13.3 personally. Maybe its just because im used to it but i feel the larger screen looks a little awkward on the 15", the 13.3" seems to have the right proportion. Maybe I'm just protecting the product I own...

To be fair the 13" inch is great, I don't wish that I had bought the 15" because 13 suits me fine, plus with Spaces and Expose I don't really need a bigger screen as somebody above posted.

However if somebody offered me a brand new 15" MBP for my 13" one I wouldn't say no. :p

MacBook is great

I went from a Powerbook G4 to the MacBook Unibody, and I am thrilled with my new computer. I have it hooked up to an Acer 22" LCD display when I want a bigger screen, but to be honest the MacBook screen resolution (1280x800) is more than enough for using most apps. I wondered if I would miss the MacBook Pro, but so far, I have to say I don't regret my decision. The only firewire peripheral I had was a hard drive in a FW 400/USB 2.0 case. It backs up (SuperDuper cloning to external drive) at about the same speed with USB on my new MacBook vs. Firewire on my old Powerbook. If you really need firewire (e.g. some DV cameras have firewire connections) or want an expresscard slot, then definitely go with a MB Pro.

I had a previous generation Macbook Pro 15 and while it was a very powerful machine I don't regret selling it and getting the 2.4ghz Macbook Uni. I've been more than happy with the performance. Honestly the size difference was enough to make the difference for me. I also have been pretty impressed with the game performance as well. Granted some games can make it cry, I think its great for a casual round now and then. :)

I just bought the Alum Macbook and couldn't be happier. Personally, I buy a laptop for portability when I need it and I felt like the bit of extra horsepower wasnt really needed.

Just coming from a 15" screen, I can honestly say I love the Macbooks screen and losing the 2"(don't really care anyways) adds more portability and doesn't decrease my experience at all.

Yup. To me, it doesn't even FEEL that tiny - and as I said, I had a 15" before this one as well.

Macbook with monitor

I've got a Macbook white from early 08 and an a professional photographer that carries photo equipment and computer in one bag. I personally would recommend keeping the smaller Macbook for portability and spending the extra dough on some extra RAM and a good monitor to fit your needs.

I purchased a Alu 2.4 Macbook a few months ago and am considering selling it and purchasing a 15" model. I do travel internationally for work about 6-8 times a year, however I don't think the extra 1lb of wait is going to make a huge difference. The screen real estate however does make a difference and Firewire 800 will be a boon for me as I plan to purchase a Drobo for my existing hard drives.

thats a tough choice!! i just bought both the 2.4 mb and the 15" pro then ill return one. i love the screen on the mbp--but it is a big computer for sure and feels big compared to the mb...not sure if its worth it...
