As the title says has anyone bought the iPhone 12 Mini and feel it too small?
Im coming from an iPhone 8, and before that the 6 and 7. But for some reason I feel like typing or things are just way smaller than what I am used to on the 4.7 inch display. I just got my phone yesterday but I got until January to return it to apple.
My Friend's normal iPhone 12 size is really tempting me. I just wish the iPhone 12 mini would have been an 5.8 like the X but with the iPhone 12 form factor.

Nope the useable screen space is virtually the same as the 6/7/8 plus series (5.4 vs 5.4”). That means apples current smallest phone has the screen size of their previous largest phone.

I think it’s the perfect size. Took me a few days to get used to, coming from the XS, but I never want a big and heavy phone again.

I really like everything about it except the volume level on notifications. I have the volume all the way up but still struggle to hear notifications.

What drew you to the mini in the first place? I think if you can deal with 5.8 inches you can deal with 6.1 with the regular 12. My iPhone 11 Pro was 5.8 inches but it was heavy. I held the 12 and thought the weight was great.

I was feeling the same about the screen size this morning after picking up my 11 Pro for the first time since getting the mini but then I remembered that while the size of the screen is nice I really value a one-handed and light phone.

If the tiny form factor of the mini isn't critical then you should try the 12. It may be a good compromise.

I returned my 12 Mini and got the regular 12. My thumb was blocking too much of the screen on the Mini during one-handed scrolling. I have to say the 12 is great. It’s about 40 grams lighter than my old X so it doesn’t feel like you’re holding a boat anchor during one-handed operation. During normal (non pandemic) times I would’ve tried the Mini out in the store before buying but that wasn’t really an option to do safely here in Los Angeles.

Sorry, but it’s not even close to the Plus phones. Those are 16:9 5.5” phones. The Mini is a 4.63” 16:9 phone which is a tad smaller than the 7, 8, etc.

Look, I always used the Plus phones once they became available, but when the 7 came out I decided to try the regular 7 instead of the Plus. I hated it. Text was tiny, typing was a pain, so I exchanged it and went back to a Plus. I have none of those issues with the Mini. Text is fine, typing is great with one or both hands. Regardless of the actual usable area percentage, the Mini feels more like the Plus in screen size than it does the smaller 6-8. If it’s an optical illusion or a magic trick, I don’t care, I will take it because the Mini just works in a way the 7 never did for me.

No not really. I was coming from an iPhone XR 128GB Product Red I just purchased back in May (2020) brand new, so coming to the iPhone 12 Mini 256GB Product Red, the shade/tone of the Red is kind of weird, has an orange hue, but I like it now. Touch sensitivity on the lock screen, I am confident will be addressed with an update. Speakers are going to be a bit weak due to the size.

Usable space is smaller then the plus series. The plus series has a much wider screen and has no notch.

No regrets here, for me if anything the mini is a bit too big, and the battery life is way in excess of what I need (I'm at 70% after a 19 hour day, my usage having come down to what's normal for me which is a bit under 2hrs SOT). I don't like the OLED display because of the color shift when viewed at even small angles but that seems to come with any OLED.

Thank you for that. I am also a Plus user (8+) and I did wonder about typing on a less wide/smaller screen. Glad to hear it probably won't be a big issue for me. Appreciate your comments. Definitely gives me some reassurance on that issue.

XR was stellar performance to me, was actually hard to fully deplete it, I loved it. The iPhone 12 mini is more on the lines of the iPhone XS, not great, but not terrible either

for me the 12 pro feels great coming from xr what I recall

and an se2 in between which was never great

How is SOT when u compare to your XS usage? Which I have and think of switching

I have no regrets, In my opinion it is the best phone Apple ever released.
The form factor of the 4/5 and the screen design of the X. Smaller than the 6/7/8 so fits my hands. Its fast. The blue looks amazing. It is the phone I was waiting for since the 6.

I have some notifications related issues, but I think that's just software...
