What drew you to the mini in the first place? I think if you can deal with 5.8 inches you can deal with 6.1 with the regular 12. My iPhone 11 Pro was 5.8 inches but it was heavy. I held the 12 and thought the weight was great.

I was feeling the same about the screen size this morning after picking up my 11 Pro for the first time since getting the mini but then I remembered that while the size of the screen is nice I really value a one-handed and light phone.

If the tiny form factor of the mini isn't critical then you should try the 12. It may be a good compromise.
I wanted the Mini because I remember getting the iPhone X when it came out, and I hate how heavy it felt, and big it was. TouchID was just faster than FaceID at the time.
I wanted the mini for that reason but i just feel that the screen is not as wide was the 8. I do like how it is a one handed operation phone but typing is not as easy as the 8
Im still getting used to it. maybe I just need to get to used to it.

I did return my Mini. I don't have any regrets though. I gave it a decent try. It didn't fit my needs as I thought it would. I'm now realizing that I miss the 5.8 size LOL! It's just a preference of mine and I've been with the 5.8 since the X - 11P.

No it’s perfect other than the lock screen touch issue which hopefully will be resolved with a software updated.

I’m thinking of going caseless, I’m not liking the Apple leather case for some reason this year, a bit too sticky feeling.

How is SOT when u compare to your XS usage? Which I have and think of switching

i never payed that much attention to SOT. and i've been using a brand new phone way more than an old phone. but for my usage, battery life seems fine. i'm at a desk all day where my phone is on a charger. i don't use it for media or games...but it seems comparable to my XS.

honestly the mini battery is about rated the same as previous phones at this smaller size....it's simple physics - smaller phone = smaller battery.

if your phone is your primary device, then the battery life probably won't work for you. but i have a phone, ipad and mac - and have specific uses for each.

I had a 5.8 XS and tried the 12 Pro and felt it was too big and bulky. After that I tried the 12 Mini and feel it’s the best iPhone Apple has made in years.

Battery life is about on par with the iPhone XS and the one handed usage is really really nice. Much easier to use with one hand than even the iPhone XS.

I return 12 mini too. I was really happy about hearing of smaller iPhone X-like and lighter one. I have switched from 7 to XS and missed lighter phone and one that could be perfect for one hand use. But after switching from XS to mini it wasn’t the right fit. After few days I return it back.
1) My problem was with everything being so small, mostly text size. I’m using the smallest font size since the first iPhone. And on mini I had to increase it - still didn’t work.
2) Also my battery life wasn’t as good as I thought that I would handle that. My XS had battery replacement in August so for next year or two, it will be as a new phone. And also we don’t know it we will get Smart Battery Case for this year’s lineup.
3) As much as I love the size, weight and design it brings to my attention that for a speed, apps and daily using there were literally nothing THAT MUCH new for me (from the XS). No that special feeling I had going from 7 to XS. Like 5G is nowhere near around my place and even in our country.
4) Three things about mini I do love:
- colors (white again!)
- design which I really love
- light and one-handed typing
5) Camera seems to me very similar, sometimes better with XS’s telephoto, sometimes better with mini because of sharpness and colors. This wasn’t really selling point for me.

So I’m saving for next year and until then have to decide whether to go for mini or the bigger 12.

For me its right up there with the iphone 8 plus among Apples finest phones ever released in my opinion. Just wish it had power button touch id. Not a massive fan of face id and the notch but this is a different discussion altogether.

Personally, 12 mini was really worse than XS, of course. Mostly the size of the battery was the concern. But still mini is good enough, even though XS is about 1 or 2 hours better.

Hell no.

Coming from an XS, picking that up now it feels ridiculous. Uncomfortable rounded edges, weight, bulk, screen is too tall. LOVE the Mini. Perfect size.
That’s true. Weight and size is perfect and the design - oh my, I love it! But for me personally after using XS the battery is far more better. Like today I had 4,34hours SOT and still having 47%. That’s not gonna happen with mini.

Thanks. Well thats a bummer. apples numbers are quite similar.

I found no direct comparison between the two. On YouTube with 11pro max this is about 30% better than both the XS and mini. So i was hoping the mini would be on par with the XS

I really like the mini. I know some will knock it for a smaller screen and relatively worse battery, but it has the biggest screen and longest battery life of any iPhone I’ve ever had, so it’s all relative.

As I suspected would be the case, I find the ultra wide lens useless and would much prefer a telephoto lens, but oh well. Now they just need to fix the touch screen insensitivity issue.

Yeah I had a 7, my wife has a Xs, and now I have a mini. You are right that there is a much bigger difference between the 7 and the Xs than the Xs and the 12/12 mini.

That’s why I’m skipping this year. Althought I really love the mini, design, colours, and the feel in my hand. Hope the battery will be better next year. I’m attaching my XS battery life of today with 44% left. Not happening with mini as were my experiences from last 5 days.

Touch screen insensitivy will be fixed with an update I think. Also I agree with your points.

On Apple's comparison page the Mini gets 1hr better battery life than that XS and ties with the XS Max. Personally I've had no issues with the Mini and find the battery life comparable to my XS.

It’s short of 15hours of audio playback with XS Max so it isn’t the tie for me. Even 10 hours less with XS. I’m not saying that it’s very bad, just that right now I would be dead with 12 mini and hoping that next year it will be better. (Also quite missing the telephoto and very suprisingly 3D Touch which is way more faster than Haptic Touch.)

Yup, I also miss 3D Touch. Way better than haptic.

True. It’s way faster althought it could drain battery faster. Couldn’t imagine 3D on mini. 😀

Was that a battery drain thing, 3D Touch. Didn't know that.
I like it more than Haptic. Way faster. But with the new gestures like swiping between apps, I use haptic a lot less.

I suppose it was because 11 Pro was without 3D Touch and gain impressive battery improvement. (Of course, A13 was another element of battery improvement.)
