I keep my AOD on. The battery life on the AWU is so good that I don't worry about battery life on a day-to-day basis.

I'm curious about whether those who are flying would a) turn off their cellular and/or b) turn off AOD. For me, when I fly I do make sure that cellular is turned off inflight because that endless search for a cell signal is just going to drain phone and/or Watch.

Off. I have never liked AOD on any device and have always left it off. It has nothing to do with battery life. I just prefer it off. I didn’t vote in the poll because I have no way to translate yes/no to on/off.

I think for that scenario you're supposed to vote Orange in the poll.

AOD on, it’s one of the best features of the Apple Watch post series 5…. I do turn theater mode to sleep at night though.

I leave bluetooth on for both devices. I put only the iPhone in airplane mode, so it doesn’t search for a signal. The watch doesn’t search for a cellular signal either since it’s connected to iPhone via bluetooth.

Do you also switch off bluetooth when flying?

I turn on Airplane mode on the phone and it automatically also turns on Airplane mode on the Watch. I don't turn off Bluetooth though.

As I use a pullover now a days, I keep AOD off.
I have long sleeves now as well but I leave AOD on all the time. The display goes so dim/dark under my sleeves that it may as well be off. It’s not until I pull my sleeve back that I see it gradually start to become visible again. Barely any battery impact so I’ve not found a reason to turn it off.

Maybe it is a setting. But if my screen is covered, regardless how much I move, it doesn't awake. So, under a sleeve I agree it doesn't use much battery life at all.

I spend a lot of time in front of a computer, it is nice to be able to look down at my wrist and see my next appointment without having to move may arm to wake.

off for me, but i'm definitely interested to compare the battery drain with AOD on.

It is not enough to need to change your charging schedule. The AOD will use battery, but not enough that it would change how you currently charge (daily, every 2 days, or every 3 days). If I would get a full extra day, or half day from a single charge (AOD off vs on) I would consider turning it off, but I don't.

Far less than I had anticipated. I have my watch AOD turn off during the night and back on in the morning. There's no significant change in battery depletion.
