It was very hard for me to turn on the display while riding my motorcycle. I went from a S4 to a S5 just for the AOD while riding. Another benefit was not giving off a false sense of boredom during meetings when I needed to check the time or a notification. The over gesture of turning on the display can mean losing a raise/promotion.

Sim to JT above my Ultra AOD is turned on in the AM (S7 worn @ nite w/ AOD off) when I put it on as it's useful when on my gravel/road bike or when swimming.

My S7 charges so fast I don't even worry about battery. Can charge it for 15 minutes while I'm in the shower and it's amazing how much it charges up. I keep a charger in the bathroom and by my computer so charge level is never a problem. This is my 1st AW and will probably upgrade every 2-3 years so that's not a problem either. I just get the aluminum and am not into the higher priced models. All I care about is features and functionality.

I don’t worry about it on my S5 now I’ve disabled AOD. I only worried about it originally because my watch was turning off at around 7.30pm because the battery was dead. I had a couple of years using the feature and thought it was great, but it destroyed the battery health unfortunately. It’s the longest I’ve kept an AW and planned to upgrade back in September but when I looked into it, the AW7 and AW8 just were not much different so I decided to keep my AW5 another year. I only buy the aluminium version too and have a melted screen but you can only tell very close up lol.

Losing a promotion because you twisted your wrist to check the time 😂😂

I was in a meeting at a previous job when someone from C-suite responded to a director (wearing an AW and was looking at it) with "Do you have somewhere better to be?" To be fair this was early on in the AW's existence, perhaps now that people are more aware, maybe it would be less likely to happen.

Don't be fooled, people can take offense to little things, and that can make or break your career with a company if the offended person is your superior.

For sure. Wrong tie too perhaps. Those are pretty extreme situations though.

I remember a similar one a few years back where I was reading a PDF document off a PDA (pre-iPhone) and a similar conversation ensued. Then I showed him that we were both reading the same document, just that he had a printed copy.

Those are extreme outliers though, IMO.

I also like to interval sprints for a certain amount of time so I like to be able to barely move my wrist to see how much time I’ve got. That’s one of the things I hated about my garmin, I would have to hold my watch in front of my face for what seemed like an inordinate amount of time to see the timer while at a dead sprint.
