How is everyone experience with the magsafe with their iPhone 12 series? I'm using one right now and I am not sure if I want to keep it or return it... Great for overnight (I guess... Qi charger does the job too)... but fast charging... mmm pretty skeptical still...

I like it for the convenience. Fast charging is not a priority for me.

It’s been a great replacement for my Mophie Qi charger. Much smaller footprint on the nightstand. Perfect for travel too.

I only charge overnight so it’s speed is of no concern for me.

actually I’m not that bothered with the speed as I came from a Qi charging pad as well. My problem really is that I feel magsafe just isn’t that much of a “wireless” experience compared to a Qi charging pad. It feels more like wired charging but not through lightening.

I skimmed the thread and didn't see an answer to this: how fast is the charging when connected to an iMac (in my case a 2020)? Considering the short cable length, I'm surprised more people haven't asked this.

Set it up, then open System Information to see what it's being provided.

Macs will supply extra current above USB spec, but only with certain Apple devices.

it just says 500 under the USB port's info? Is this where you mean?

Would you loose power with a USB C extension? I just bought this one from eBay to make the Magsafe charger longer and it arrived today and I haven’t tested it fully but it’s working so far just don’t know if it’s charging at the full 20W I have no idea if an extender would affect this.

Based on how higher wattage can lead to more heat. I’m okay with only getting 12w or lower using other chargers if it means keeping my battery cool. But definitely there is some handshake that is happening with apples 20W charger that other 3rd party have.
I ended up buying a ton of 60w USB-c chargers which I carry in all my bags
