cool... anyone else?
this could be great... we could actually start talking about the computer instead of racism and weather or not 50cent is a good role model.
The thing is its a double edge sword...

as much as we may hate 50 and everything he stands for....

He does have the presence and power to bring a certain segment of the population out of the digital divide.

Its funny because 50 admitted in the whole Oprah debacle he had...that his largest fanbase is white middle class suburban kids....

but he dodes have the presence to resonate with others and bring them to the technology, which is very important if we want to keep a somewhat educated society who can contribute.

WOW. not for the 50cent-Apple thing, but WOW there are a lot of ignorant close minded people that really don't think too different here. that makes me really sad, and there is no way in hell i'm reading through 13 pages of that crap. (3 was enough)

why doesn't fiddy just buy macbooks and give them to inner city kids, hes a millionare?
That is what I said in the other post......

he doesnt have to team up with Apple to achieve this goal...

he can go into best buy and get a palettte of emachines or hps right now and pass them out

better yet he can rap about computers instead of hoes

Are you kidding me......?

That's like Nike giving money to charities whilst they use 3rd world labour to make their shoes.

Nesle no doubt gives to charity...it also sells dangerous powdered milk without instructions to africa....

Of course you have to care where the money comes from....otherwise you're just a hypocrite...

Actually its more like the truth ad where the speak of a tobaco company who donated a few hundred thousand dollars and then spent a few million dollars advertising that they did it.

That reminds me... I'd like to point out that I'm smarter than anyone else here and it's almost unbearable for me to have to read through the other posters' muddled and gramatically challenged prose. It almost pains me that anyone not as smart as me is allowed to publish their meaningless thoughts in this thread. Let's end this thread by discussing my intelligence for a page or so. In future, when there's a controversial topic, just ask for my opinion, and we won't have to spend 13 pages discussing it.

So what about this... let 50 make it. Good for him. If you don't like rap and find it to be trite misogynistic crap. Then don't buy that computer... I don't like U2 either... so i would never buy a U2 ipod. Same difference.

Great example sir!

I like the idea of a real inexpensive mac. But that treads on the eMac. Personally, I think it'd be great for students to be able to buy eMacs through their school, and anyone to be able to buy them through their library or something.

Branding it 50 cent is not a good idea for the simple fact that not everyone that is in need is a fan of 50 cent. If he wants to help, or endorse it, then great. I just don't think branding it with his name is reasonable.

A 50 cent iPod? Great idea! In fact, I think Apple should consider many bands and artists for this. The U2 one is limited to U2 fans and people who like black and red. Some great ideas would be...

Grateful Dead and Phish - Tons and Tons of Heads use their iPods for listening to countless hours of live music.
Beatles - Although it'd probably never happen
Elvis - With sparklies
Floyd - Prism
I'm just throwing a few out, but there's plenty that could get in on something like this. It'd be cool if any band could pay and work with Apple to have a band-branded pod.

Anyway, as far as branding a computer with an artist, no matter who, it's a bad idea. It's just not far-reaching enough and some people may even be turned off by the artist (Just look at this thread, racist or not)

Jephrey

speaking of eMac apple went to great lengths to say the e stood for education because it could've misrepresented their image. this whole topic is a stupid

What a great image for Apple. To have a confessed gangster as their spokesman. I am sure this deal will have the same results as his movie...

I love how you racist cowards are signing up with new names to say something or perhaps logging into 2nd accounts....this is classic

Proof?

I've clicked a few of the "macrumors newbie" comments and haven't seen a 1 post comment yet, because I was wondering about that....

Noo! Don't throw away the mac. Unlike these racist ******** on this site, Apple is trying to be part of the solution. These people may be using macs, but they certianly do not support the views of EVERY mac owner.

haha, this site hated the iPod when it came out too.

I've said it and I know alot of others have said it, but really would you really like a cheap mac?

I mean I love the thought of people who do not have the financial abilities to be connected with the world, but part of me... sadly is thinking

"man... a cheap apple...."

I dont know what's wrong with me... the Mini doesn't bother me... Perhaps its just the word cheap and how my mind associates cheap with the laptops at walmart with pentium 3 processors(j/k).

Lets get somethings straight

50 cent is the pop artist of Rap, not hip-hop. Hip-hop is a genre for those who have talent not those who have talented marketing machines.

There is nothing "G" as in "G-Unit" about getting shot a bunch of times and not shooting back (sorry Jadakiss).

50 cent is the definition of CRap Rap.

The only reason that Apple would use 50 cent is to sell more ****** intel machines. And from that profit oriented perspective it works because 50 cent is popular but still a ****** ass rapper (if you want to referer to him as one at all).

This is another testement of Apple doing what is best for selling not for any thing else. If you are a hardcore Apple fan boy this may upset you. **** the MacBook and it's integrated graphics !garbage!. It is no longer about quality computers it is more about profit for Apple these days. I am really disappointed I had high hopes.

Recommendation "Jadakiss - Checkmate" the single.

Why the hell is is dubbed as affordable to "inner city" people?

Hey, I'm all for an affordable computer. Why can't it just be that? An affordable computer. An inexpensive computer. A low cost computer. What the hell is this "inner city" crap? As if they don't live in the same country as the rest of us or something?

There's nothing easier than shouting 'racist' or 'Nazi' in an online forum. It never furthers the discussion or changes anyone's minds and it's difficult to refute, since offensiveness is in the eye of the beholder.

I dont think the gun-busting, cap-popping, chillin and grilling, rap swinging and lyric grinding gangsta would appreciate a mac...

just a thought though

I am quite shocked with all the posts out here. Obviously everyone has never *tried* to compose a rap/hip-hop track, otherwise you'd know how tough it is, and you would appreciate all the talent out there.

I wonder if we would have seen the same response were Apple tying up with Pavarotti or someone. The 'gun-busting, cap-popping, chillin and grilling, rap swinging etc etc' "gangsta" has quite some music gear like samplers, synthesizers, drum machines, etc..

Yes, they would appreciate a mac, and oh, my wife loves 50 cent, she's white and she's not a 'gangsta'
