haha, this site hated the iPod when it came out too.

I read that thread a few days ago. What a bunch of regular Einsteins we've got here.

Comes down to this. They're afraid of change. Afraid of a music product, afraid of a new chip, afraid of a new name for a computer, afraid of integrated graphics etc. All of the above mentioned ideas have been HUGE sucesses, despite the negativity the members on this site radiate. The people on this site DO NOT think different.

Uh, he did give his opinion.. he mentioned that there are a lot of close minded, ignorant people out here. Or did you ignore his original post? :p

What Apple is associating themselves with...

www.50cent.com

Spend 2 minutes there.

'nuff said.

Is it really any worse than James Bond or the Sopranos though? I do wonder how ironic Hip Hop is meant to be. At face value it's appalling, but do the rappers actually believe there own hype?

I am quite shocked with all the posts out here. Obviously everyone has never *tried* to compose a rap/hip-hop track, otherwise you'd know how tough it is, and you would appreciate all the talent out there.

I wonder if we would have seen the same response were Apple tying up with Pavarotti or someone. The 'gun-busting, cap-popping, chillin and grilling, rap swinging etc etc' "gangsta" has quite some music gear like samplers, synthesizers, drum machines, etc..

Yes, they would appreciate a mac, and oh, my wife loves 50 cent, she's white and she's not a 'gangsta'

yes, it's very hard to write that type of "rap"

 NSFW:eek:

We are so much further from being able to have a discussion about race than I thought we were.

Glad I didn't start that "How Do You Construct Your Racial/Ethnic Identity" thread I was going to start ...

Actaully its not that hard to compose rap songs if you acctually have talen. And especially if you have composing stuff...

Isn't 50 cent's music produced by Shady Records. From the few shots of me seeing 50 in the studio I saw eminem on the control board coming up with beats. I saw 50 trying to mumble to it...

I would assume more Dre and Eminem have to do with his beats than 50 himself, but I have never looked in to it so I could be very wrong.

And did you ignore his sir?

He did that after reading 3 pages....

that's 10 pages of interesting debate he missed out before forming his opinion and rushing to pour his feelings out on the internet....mis-informed, and without the whole progressing discussion....
Discuss informed or don't discuss at all....He called me a Flamer, while he trolls by calling the entire forum racist braggarts when he's only read 3 pages...

not to be racist, but 50 will want a Black eMac with chrome colored cables, keyboard, and mouse.

It will come with a bonus mouse pad saying "Represetin the hood, uh huh, yeah dawg."

edit, on second thought maybe it is a little racist. ...but OH SO TRUE

Nothing in your post was the slighest bit racist. Stereotyping yes, but racist no. In no way did you say or infer that you beleive the color of ones skin makes a person inherently inferior or superior.

Apparently this 50 cent person claims to be a gangster, says and/or does things that you find offensive, and yet in this society you're worried that if you say anything derrogatory in his direction, you'll be branded a racist. How far do we take this kind of thinking in this country?

Perhaps the cables and black computer is sterotypical, but it's not racist. Hey guess, what chinese people are short! I guess I'm racist against Chinese people now. Rappers like black cars and chrome. Whatever.

G-Unit Laptops All Day

after reading just a few people's posts and their opinions, i just want to say **** you haters. this is my opinion:

50 Cent is not really just a rap artist, he's just street smart and knows how to make money. You could say he's hustling, but I would say it's funny. He owns a large share of stock in Vitamin Water, his clothing company and music company make him boat loads of cash, and to put it simply he's not stupid when it comes to making money. People purchase his products because they know what he has to offer is in style. Apple has been a company that has always done it's thing in style also and knows how to make money and market their things as well.

A merger to develop this type of PC would be great. 50 knows what it's about when it comes to technology because he uses it every day to handle his businesses. Don't slack on inner city kids either, they don't have money but they definitely have their sidekicks, they also have a bunch of other gadgets that have proprietary guis. A switch for these users would be just like picking up new toys and getting in style. I'm sure everyone would have a G-Unit laptop. I'll buy one and I think it's a much better choice than a U2 iPod. People only buy that because it's black and red--stylish. G-Unit is always styling. I see it now, an all-black laptop with imitation diamonds in the bezel and a G-Unit logo on the side with optional bullet stickers. I'm buying it now...

50 cent is the pop artist of Rap, not hip-hop. Hip-hop is a genre for those who have talent not those who have talented marketing machines.

There is nothing "G" as in "G-Unit" about getting shot a bunch of times and not shooting back (sorry Jadakiss).

50 cent is the definition of CRap Rap.

The only reason that Apple would use 50 cent is to sell more ****** intel machines. And from that profit oriented perspective it works because 50 cent is popular but still a ****** ass rapper (if you want to referer to him as one at all).

This is another testement of Apple doing what is best for selling not for any thing else. If you are a hardcore Apple fan boy this may upset you. **** the MacBook and it's integrated graphics !garbage!. It is no longer about quality computers it is more about profit for Apple these days. I am really disappointed I had high hopes.

Recommendation "Jadakiss - Checkmate" the single.

haha, yeh i agree with that one. apple, apple, apple... the hell is going on? their marketing division has started pissing me off lately. i'm already annoyed at having to watch that commercial over and over again whenever i get bored and visit apple's webpage. whatever happened to the old 'think secret' days or did that officially become extinct with the intel transition? The letter the day is "T" for "Tool". i do think it's commendable to produce an affordable mac fo inner city youth, but they should do it on it's own merit without some 50-cent spokesman

Why the hell is is dubbed as affordable to "inner city" people?

Hey, I'm all for an affordable computer. Why can't it just be that? An affordable computer. An inexpensive computer. A low cost computer. What the hell is this "inner city" crap? As if they don't live in the same country as the rest of us or something?

exactly. all these people screaming "rascism" on here should realize as soon as you label people "inner city", you're segregating them. i'm pretty "inner city" myself. i'm sitting in a converted warehouse on the "wrong side of the tracks" here in atlanta. do i qualify for this machine? where's the Hurricane Relief Mac? the Single Mother with Two Kids Mac?

i'm all for helping the underprivledged find a way to a better standard of living, but slapping a rap star's brand onto a low-end computer & marketing it to underprivledged families is NOT the way to go about that and Jobs knows that. let's be real, folks.

I said it before, but it was like 10 pages back. Justin Long does NOT speak to these people. 50 cent does. It needs to be marketed by him.

That is a mighty assumption to say that Mr. Jobs knows that it is not the way to go about it. Well seeing Apples new desire for maximum profits this would be the best way to do it. 50 cent sells ALOT of CD's so adding his brand or logo would only make it that more marketable. Now I don't think this is the best way to sell Quality computers but hell that cat jumped out of the bag a long time ago. Remember Apple is a business and profit is number one so, this is a great way to achive the number one goal of all businesses PROFIT. (not quality, quality only goes as far as profit will allow)

-JDF

apple won't associate it's brand with 50's brand. the two don't go together. plus, inner city kids aren't interested in the apple/ipod/mac image.

Look, we can make everyone happy. Inner city street kids and middle class suburban kids.

I bring you the vMac and here's our spokesman... Mr. Vanilla Ice.

Now, he's 'rad'.

*Ding* *Ding* *Ding*

Apple doesn't look out for the lone user that needs a FW 800 port in their 15"MBP, they look out for the masses, so they can maximize profit.

anyone saying this is a nice thing to do is like saying nike does great things by sponsering inner city basketball courts and getting kids to shoot eachother for sneakers.

apples just trying to expand its brand beyond white snobs.

I'd say both he and Apple have good intentions, but I really don't think Apple would be associating themselves with someone like 50 Cent.

I do not care about rap (taste is free)

But I'm trying to digest this news item.
Let's see:
Apple got rejected by Kay for his 3rd world kids laptop.
Bill has talked about retiring and his charitability has made more news.
Apple does not seem to have a cheap computer (Mac mini aside) and it is not clear they will make a PDA ...

Maybe this is the project of making an affordable tablet ...

Just my guess :p

I am a litlle freaked out...50 cent...wow thats just a little to much drma....and what the crap..is there gonna be a "bullet proof" mac, with a G-unit OS, and there would be a picture of 50 on the back instead of an apple?...gosh steve...dont get hurt when you decline one of his ideas..who knows what he will do to you:rolleyes:

I think this can only be a good thing. More computers to more people. I'm 100% behind this idea, and hope it happens.
