I mentioned this another member. The Roku has a great UI and AppleTV+ and Airplay. Apple is doing the right thing and no longer forcing customers to buy an AppleTV just get AirPlay and AppleTV movies/shows.
This isn't exactly new information. Smart TVs not only report back to home base what you're doing on it, but some even reach out to the local network to collect information on your home setup.
More likely, Apple does not have one segment they cater to. They are seen as expensive even if they sell low-cost options like the standard iPad, iPhone 5c and SE, iPod touch and more. It’s just the reputation they built overtime by keeping most things exclusive to their platform. They didn’t really start opening up until services beyond iTunes became a major part of their business.

Then that would also include Apple’s product right? Be honest about it, you don’t care about my privacy. It’s just an attack towards Roku since it’s a solid value and viable solution for those who don’t want to spend the money on an AppleTV. And truthfully if the Roku Ultra and the AppleTV were the same price I would still choose the Roku since it has an exclusive for the Xfinity streaming app. That’s a huge savings because I don’t have to pay extra for a set top box for other rooms in my home. And the Xfinity app runs on all Roku devices as low as their $29 dongle.
