Plot twist: “We had a fenomenal sale event and raised enough cash so we don’t have to close our business anymore“. We will be raising our prices 200% in the future.
In 2023 I would not be surprised at all if this happens. It's like last year when McDonald's said the McRib was gone for good and sure enough it came back again in 2023. Stuff like this should honestly be illegal.

I like the fact that the very first word in the article is “Popular”. Well, if it actually were popular, it wouldn’t be going out of business now, would it? No, it wouldn’t. It’s not popular, and losing money, that’s why it’s going out of business. Whether the products are well made or not isn’t the question, it’s how many people buy them, which didn’t seem to be a lot.

Honestly, I’ve never heard of them until now. It’s a shame, too, because I love that satchel.

I don’t know if you are joking or not about how it should be illegal, but: McDonalds never actually said the McRib was gone for good last year. Never once, lol.

The McRib was just on its “Farewell Tour”. Its fourth ’official’ farewell tour. Like all the greats, the first farewell tour is rarely the last. You need at least a couple of farewell tours before it’s finally time… to have another, lol. 😂

Yes, I was joking about it being illegal. 🙂

I really wanted to like their products but they all seemed kinda tacky. Like, I really wanted a book cover for my iPad but … what book do you know uses a zipper?? I ended up making one for myself that used magnets to latch the cover down. And their cases were soooo bulky. Never did find anything on their site I’d be willing to pay that much for. They had great potential. Just wish they realized it.

Sorry to see them go out of business, but their pricing looks to be a factor here. Even at 50% off, I'm finding items to be overpriced.
Agreed. I have similar feelings with Twelve South. Long ago, bought one of their tripod-y things for one of the earlier iPads. The device was beautifully made but wow, it was not practical and fell over on itself. Crappy product and expensive. Never bought from Twelve South again: overpriced.

Just snagged a Cartella slim case in Charcoal for my 2021 M1 Max.
This is a beautiful case that truly adds protection in falls.

ex:
My 2019 MBP, all on its own, jumped off my side table and fell into a 25lb weight plate. The Cartella case acted like a "crumple zone" on the corner. No damage at all to my macbook. Plus it feels good to touch.

It wasn't available fast enough for the 2021 M1 Max when it first came out so I went with one that had a wood look. Have totally regretted that. So I was going to see if Pad & Quill had lower prices on upcoming Black Friday.

Very grateful for this sale, but sad to see Pad & Quill go out of business.

ps: The website is very slow today. Expect lots of wait time between clicks.

niche stuff like this is best as a subsidiary to a bigger bag/accessory brand. you need to already be in the lifestyle business to offer things like that. ie; a goofy example but KateSpade has or had iPhone accessories and I think Mac accessories, not so much anymore, but its not their primary source of business.

Yeah, my mother-in-law had a bulky case like this with a zipper for her android. Seemed like such a hassle.

When I got her a new moto, I asked if she wanted another case like that. Turns out she HATED it and was only using it because another daughter had bought it for her. Now she has a screen protector and a rubber/plastic shell and she is much happier.

Sometimes “pretty” things don’t make sense.

The only Twelve South product I really like is the BookArc. It also is overpriced but it is well made and has a lot of inserts so I've gotten several years out of it already.

I liked the book book case in the past but I use my phone too often now to deal with the cover. Book arc is decent. The forte looks nice but I like my anker cube charger more and it charges my phone, AirPods and watch. As someone else said twelve south is pricey for the way things are now.

Bummer for them. I looked at their gear from time to time and the design/style just hasn't kept up. See Satchel + Page for timeless design.

This is not surprising.

I have seen their products mentioned here for many years and they do look like quality products.

However, their prices are ridiculously high and not practical for most people. $180 for a cord organizer? Even at the marked down price, it's still a bit high.

Link isn't working for me.

Never mind, site is really slow. Must be getting hit hard.
For some reason, I always found their site difficult to load, i.e. it would time out on my home and work connections, but it would load normally on my phone with wifi turned off. Some sort of obscure DNS issue, maybe. I wrote to P&Q about it, and they basically said, "works for me".

Page finally loaded:

An iPhone 15 Pro leather wallet case and iPhone stand made entirely of American full-grain leather and artisan stitch. Not a plastic drop was used in this beautiful case inspired by our father's coin purse.

There's years of expensive therapy down the drain...

I can get site to load, but then all DOG slow and keeps telling me something is wrong when enter CC info. I have turned off ad-blocker too. Will try again later.
