I'm thinking about picking one up next fall for my significant other to use after we tie the knot. Either that or a new Macbook, after I throw her POS Dell out the window! Also need to upgrade her 3rd gen iPod...
Hopefully the upgraded mini will have the new nvidia graphics chip. I could also see them cutting the size way down, removing the optical drive and firewire. That is, unless they combine it into thetv, which just makes a whole lot of sense to me. Also: aluminum, glass, and black!

A Mini with the 9400/9600 combo of the macbook pro would be awesome, but of course - no way in hell.
Even just the 9400 would be darn nice, but I would be surprised they'd make it that nice.
Tell me more about Snow Leopard's eye candy that is far more intensive then Leopard's.I understand the sentiment, but they really can't go with anything less than 9400 grahpics, can they?
I guess they could go with x3100 (as in the white MacBook) but I'm guessing that that would be underpowered for Snow Leopard's eye candy.

That's what I thought. I haven't heard anything about additional eye candy in Snow Leopard.I haven't seen it, though betas are out there so we should be able to dig up some reports if we go looking.
But months ago I had heard it would have more demanding eye candy. When they put 9400 graphics in the macbooks I figured that was the motivation.
My second-gen iPod demands to know whom you callin ancient. I use it every day.For what it's worth, my ancient 3rd-generation iPod is still going strong.
I'm going to say that the iMac will continue to only support one external display.Would like to plug two screens in it, is that possibly with new models?
wow, black plastic would give it that design push that Apple has been aiming to do with all of their products. also the mac mini would be worth buying if they make another one. it would be a great piece of technology for a small price.![]()
Yes i think, the new Mac mini will have a black plastic top and also the new Mac Pro will have a black case (of course it will be out of aluminium, but it will be painted to black).
Yeah, as much as we all want [a midrange tower] to happen, it's not.
...
The point is, the way Apple is going right now, they'll never offer the fabled mid-tower that everyone longs for. That means they'd have to offer compatible drivers for every video card that's put out, and deal with the whining when they don't keep up with the video card companies on drivers. That'd really go against the whole, "...Apple builds both the computer and the software that comes with ..." They wouldn't then.
It'd cost a helluva lot of money for them to support all the new hardware that goes on the market every two months (or sometimes even less), specifically with video cards. It's a closed platform. If you want freedom with hardware, you have to stick with personal computing, plain and simple. Hehe.
end rant.
tl;dr
Apple is never going to let you choose exactly what hardware you want, and hell will freeze over before OS X is sold to run on anything like Windows. Cry more.
