Apple deserves the PR bitch slap they are getting on this. The hackers responsible for this crime hopefully have prison sentences in their future.

Crappy situation all around.

Anyone who downloads them, quite simply, should be ashamed of themselves. A massive invasion of privacy.

Who cares? For me it's like a big ******* you to the whole celebrity obsessed culture. You should be ashamed of yourself for allowing something like the NSA to continue hijacking the worlds data.

All I'm going to say is that if this revelation comes to light... her career is over. Or maybe it will take off, but it won't be PG rated movies. That is, if she doesn't go to jail herself.

Why on earth would she go to jail? Since when was it illegal to take naked pictures? Or has the US finally lost the plot and gone full Orwellian?
Even if she did post naked pictures of herself that's still legal.

Are you proud of watching this? If it's true, which I will not verify, then you are the one who should go to jail.

How can you be proud of watching something on YouTube? It isn't exactly an achievement unless you're having great difficulty installing Flash Player. And why exactly should the viewer go to jail? Confusing logic.

That's fine of she takes naked photos but she also has to be willing to suffer the consequences of having them stored on a cloud somewhere. Also, celebs have to understand that part of the "deal" with being worshipped and being paid millions of dollars to make movies(hardly work) is that they lose some privacy and personal space.

If she doesn't like it, she could always get a job at a factory or at a department store in the mall where she won't be bothered. Right?

I can't have a secure password for Apple, because Apple keep asking me for the password over and over and over, again and again and again using the iTunes store.

I have to keep it a simple password.Same Problem with Steam, it keeps sending you verification codes to log in.

Yeah I uh.. take back what I said before about why is this all revolving around her.. I now know why she's so pissed off.

Clearly your oblivious to the other leaks that have happened and celebrities like Kim Kardashian. It's something that happens but her career won't end and she won't go to jail, what are you on about, she hasn't broken any laws.

I wonder, there is nothing really illegal there. Most of the images could suit magazines in Europe and wouldn't raise an eyebrow there. Nothing compare to what you find on tumblr. Can't understand the fuzz at all.....

In fact, from the 20 names in the bunch I just knew Kirsten Dunst, and even for US standard that something you can get on HBO nowadays.

Bit of a delayed response, but Apple owe it to their customers to get this sorted. Hope they patch it up nice and secure. If my private pics started circling the web I'd be furious. Then again, I'm smart enough not to put any of my personal pictures on the cloud.

Where has it been confirmed that Apple has anything to get sorted or patch up? Apple certainly hasn't confirmed anything.

They're probably more upset about the millions they've lost out on now that the 'first nude scene' pay bonus has disappeared.

Most of the nudes I saw and videos came from other people. Some were taken by the celebs but most were taken by others. Also, a lot of the pics/vids were not iPhone quality which makes me believe they were from alternate sources.

I love some people were so mad about the NSA violating privacy, but are praising some random guy who pretty much did exactly what the NSA does.

The "random guy" doesn't have the power to arrest or harass an individual through the 100's of government regulatory agencies. The "random guy" is also not equipped with the world's most powerful military and intelligence network.

If the pictures were indeed taken from iCloud and were done so without the account holder's (or Apple's) permission and knowledge, I'd say there was a problem, wouldn't you?

Saying that, these people should know better than to put personal information online, regardless if they think it's 'secure' or not. Maybe this is a lesson learned for them.

The recent hack??!?

I do feel some sympathy for these celebs whose pictures were acquired without concern for their privacy or what have you....

However that being said, you took pictures on a phone that uploads them to a cloud. Dumba$$...turn off photostream if you want to ensure those pictures go nowhere. Your just as responsible as the people that stole the images, show some responsibility for your actions. Never take a photo with a phone you dont want shared anywhere...

Maybe if these celebs weren't so careless (and clueless) this wouldn't happen.

I'm sure some of them will be happy they get some mention in the news nowadays.

Comments like this are completely ignorant. Just because someone takes a personal picture for their own use does not grant permission for that picture to be STOLEN and then published for the world to see. These people are victims of a crime. Let me repeat that - they are victims of a CRIME.

Read this - and then tell me you still think it's their fault.

So you're saying she was asking for it?

If you read the thread you will see they applied a security hole patch yesterday.

Because the comment he replied to stated they were watching a dog being sexually abused by an actress, if you watched a video like that then I'd expect you to go to jail as it's sick, plain sick.

If it is ever confirmed that the problem was in the API and it allowed a brute force attack to break the password then I would have to seriously question Apples approach to security. There are always bugs in software and you will probably never catch everything but something as fundamental as this (or what we think it was) is inexcusable for any business, never mind one with the resources that Apple has.

The key word is IF. Nobody knows at this point. IF it is confirmed that iCloud was hacked then yes Apple is in big doo doo. But since nothing is confirmed why rush to judgement?

Still not confirmed that the two are related.

As I understand from the news and this forum Apples flaw was with the find my phone, it allowed you to try the password as many times as you wanted and didn't block your account after several attempts, Apple patched this hole over the American public holiday... and has remained very quiet bar stating it's investigating.

But that is an Apple fault, very very very poor security.

The news channels are also fully reporting all the information in this thread but as they point out, people delete their photos off their phones but the photos remain in the cloud, they are also reporting on Apple in the story, no one else.
