Well there COULD be but that’s not a necessary thing to happen. And even then you could likely use an alternative rather than purchasing a new computer right away.
And even now both iOS and macOS warn you before you update your reminders or notes if you have other devices not compatible with the new format. Nothing stopping anyone from just continuing to use the old format of reminders or notes.

Apple generally does quite a lot to make sure devices remain usable/compatible even on older OS versions.

But it DID happen, that's my point. My Macs are currently supported but anyone else all-in with Apple who's macs were not supported by Catalina had to migrate to questionable third-party solutions last year for Reminders if they wanted sync to work between their up-to-date iOS devices. It's just a crappy thing to have to workaround if Apple break it by stipulating the latest macOS is mandatory & fundamental to application functionally/parity with your iOS device.

Who said your device isn't getting another 2 or 3 years of macOS releases? You can only speculate at this point.

That's exactly what I'm doing! *facepalm*

Both iOS 13 and Catalina warn people about upgrading their reminders to the new format, if they have other devices still on an OS not compatible with the new format. If they do anyway, that's kind of their own fault, isn't it?

Then why are you upset about your device becoming vintage? That doesn't pertain to software support! *facepalm*

I'm not. I said it was to go out of support it would bother me. It's clearly on the chopping block if 2014 MBP's are rumoured to go vintage. I'd say my late 2013 rMBP & the older 2012 rMBP are on rocky ground if the rumour about the 2014 MBP model is confirmed.

Again, the vintage status of your device doesn't pertain to how long it will receive the latest macOS, so why are you concerned about the "rumoured" vintage status of a different device? (BTW no need for rumours, any device that's out of production for 5 years becomes vintage, as stated here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201624)

Late 2013 MBPs are likely to receive the latest OS longer than Early 2013 and 2012 models since they're more modern in a lot of ways. But we'll see. Anyway kind of off-topic in this thread, which is about hardware support (repairs and spare parts).
