There's no "maybe." If you aren't going to make your decisions based on the anti-Apple posters on this thread, how they heck are you going to trust any decision you have to make? Get on with it. You are either "woke" or not. How can you even consider any Apple product when some unknown person puts a picture of a bent iPad on a web site and all Apple can say is they've got the industry leading machining tolerances, but if you don't like it, just return it??
Oh goodness. Someone’s been drinking the Apple kool-aid.

iPads coming bent in the box is not normal. It’s never been normal, and you know that. Yet they’re trying to normalize it with the “machine process” bs. And yes, they’re saying you can return it, but it has to be within their 14 day policy.

Have I mentioned it’s $1000?

This is "industry leading" machining tolerances? Gosh, I'd hate to see what the little guys are selling us...

So read this

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209403

It’s clear the iPad is strong and durable , Apple says so.

And watch this

The above statement holds true to iPad 2010, not 2018

I'm not sure the Apple support article says what you think it does. Instead, it simply states Apple's position that it has industry leading tolerances that are even better than the previous model, BUT

"If you believe your new iPad Pro does not meet the specifications described in this article, please contact Apple Support. Apple offers a 14-day return policy for products purchased directly from Apple. Apple also provides up to a one-year warranty on our products and will cover damage if it has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship."

And, yes Youtube is full of videos of people trying to destroy and damage every single Apple product, but no one takes any of these seriously, and not surprisingly, people don't pay any attention to them and just continue to buy iPads, iPhones, etc., that have been destroyed in these videos, in amazing quantities. Instead, people go by their experience and common sense. That's probably why they sold over 200 MILLION iPhones last year and activated a 100 million additional devices to the ecosystem.

That's only 0.4 microns per $1.00 of value. What a steal! o_O

Show me an iPad with a “bend” under 400 microns.

The story says they’ll replace iPads out of that spec.

Next, show me the data on how many iPads are bent over 400 microns.

They will replace iPads out of tolerance. Stop freaking out.

It's not crystal-clear that they will replace a +.4mm-bent Pro after the two week return. Sure, they'll replace it if it's defective - but there's a lot of room to debate whether it got bent due to use/misuse/abuse rather than due to a manufacturing defect ("And, Mr. Smith, why did it take you six months to notice this bend in your iPad?").

Not "kool aid" to state the facts. No one is stating bent iPads are normal. And you are the first person to suggest that it is some kind of border to only have 14 days to return a "bent in the box iPad." More importantly, you are misstating Apple's position (why is that?), by saying you only have 14 days to return it, when they have reminded everyone in the press release and web site that you are covered for a year.

Apples support page sounds like they are talking about the iPad 10.5

Cause if the new iPad was as durable as the previous version , this would not be news .

If bends in new products are acceptable, then bends should NEVER void an Apple warranty.

They don't have the equipment and supply lines to achieve 400 micron. Plus since they are being sold often at a loss, you're dealing with throw away tablets that consumer don't expect much of. That's why Apple sets such high standards and stands behind them-- they want to keep folks in the ecosystem. It always brings a chuckle when you hear some Apple basher claim that Apple deliberately builds an inferior product so you'll have to replace it. As one of the top folks at Apple said, while he laughed in reaction to a question about Apple designing products so they don't work and have to be upgraded-- "yes, that's our strategy- we build poor quality products that won't last and will upset our customers so they come back and buy more from us."

if the first explanation was bad then this one is even worse

is not bend is the new design
Tim lost his dignity

:D

who wants a bend ipad,
that can't possibly be a new design is a defect from factory and they are trying to cover it up with lies and excuses

I'm sure they will fix it in the next gen but they simply are trying to avoid replacing the ones that they already sold

I can't believe what apple is doing lately
this is truly unacceptable
man Tim has to go and go fast

cmon Tim an ipad is not a Curve TV stop making excuses

They haven’t said that at all. Perhaps you can provide a quote.

Numerous people have already posted in this very conversation that they have had issues returning post 14 days. You have to argue with them about “misuse” such as putting it in a rucksack etc.

As Apple are not designating this a design fault, unless the bend is less than the 400 microns tolerance, they are not obligated to replace in that first year.

Looking at how malleable it is , I can’t see how anyone’s new iPad Pro won’t end up as bent as a boomerang after a year or two.

Apple’s problem is that they are just too arrogant to admit any fault here. They are not the company they used to be.

Okay, you're starting to realize the silliness of what you have been told by the latest anti-Apple crowd. You're still in a bit of denial, but you're getting there.

They keep digging themselves deeper and deeper.
I tell you what, if you halve all the prices on all your products well put up with bent products.

I just picked up an 11" iPad Pro from Micro Center not even ten minutes ago. I told the salesman, if it's bent, it will be back before they close. I don't care how Apple spins the bend, I'm not spending my hard-earned cash on an inferior product. On a more positive note, the guy at Micro Center told me they haven't had one single iPad come back because it was bent. So that's something. I'll add to my post once I get the box open here in about an hour.

Don’t care. Not acceptable to have a bent iPad. No other product they have comes bent from the factory.

if you open the iPad box and it's bent, you have 14 days to return it for a full refund.

i've had a $5k MacBook Pro that I returned on the 13th day and got a refund. literally no questions were asked when I returned it at the Genius Bar.
