4.2 made watching Netflix into watching shows in 20 second chunks between pauses. Now this makes the ATV UI crawl and I can get into Netflix period.

Doesn't apple test any of their stuff?

Netflix is down for all devices and the website itself isn't functional. Its doubtful it has anything to do with this update. And your issue with buffering Netflix isn't a common issue with everyone.

You have to re-cache all of the menus and thumbnails. Once I went through all the menus, everything was back to normal speed. Netflix is down for everyone.

Ok I'll say it. I know this is picky, but why can't they synchronize software build numbers to the rest of the iOS world?
Well, they would probably fall out of sync when the next iPhone/iPod/iPad iOS update comes out... Just because they might fix some touch issue in iOS doesn't mean that the ATV needs to be updated, too.

Now, if they ever open a store for ATV then there may be more of a need to pay attention to iOS version numbers (as opposed to calling it by an ATV version number).

Me Too!

Just updated and now in addition to interface lagginess all over the place, I am unable to sign into Netflix. Anyone else?

I am unable to get NetFlix to work. It seems any type of network function locks the AppleTV for a few minutes.

I am doing a RESTORE to see if a clean install will correct the issue.

My Flickering is gone, but still not working well.

The AppleTV is telling me that it will take 30 minutes to download the iOS. It only too a few minutes to do the update. Maybe there are networking issues with this latest version.

Fingers crossed that this update solves or at least improves all the Netflix problems me and others have been having! Time to go download...

It made mine worse. It locks up every time I click on Netflix....? Before the update, it would just play sometimes and not others, and lose audio occasionally.

Netflix - the whole website - is down guys. Just chill. Nothin to do with the update.

We’re sorry, the Netflix website and the ability to instantly watch movies are both temporarily unavailable.
However, our shipping centers are continuing to

4.2.1 does not fix this. Am I the only one with this problem? I have to set screen saver to "never" to keep it from crashing.

No you are not alone in that. If I use a album from iPhoto, ATV2 crashes. I've switched back to Animals while I wait for a fix.

I haven't tried it since the update. No time now to test.

Movie-watching is still supposed to work but the Netflix website has been down today so perhaps that's part of the reason you're having trouble with Netflix. It could just be a coincidence that it was the day this update came out.

Mine says I'm up to date at 4.2(2060)

??????

4.2.1 has really messed up my Apple TV 2. The remote locks up and it no longer connects to NetFlix. Great job Apple!

Downloading update now....once I left across and get to Internet it locks up for 5 mins......gah!!!!!

Too funny. I have been scratching my head about the waking from sleep and no sound issue for a week now.

hahahaahah all Ive read the past few days is people having problems with all their new Apple toys. Seems like everything released i the past year or so has problems haha....im glad I haven't bought anything from Apple.

But the timing is interesting. I was watching Netflix when I read that there was an ATV update. After installing the update, I lost access to Netflix. So if they aren't related, it is an AMAZING coincidence.

Same here... I literally paused netflix to run the update, and now it doesnt work...Anyone have any lick yet. It works on my macbook, but no ATV2.

not just netflix

first off my MacBook Pro plays Netflix just fine. I watched half an episode of Arrested Development, just to make sure. I had been watching it on my ATV, but set it to update when I left for the grocery store, now, nothing. that being said, I was also going to rent a movie on iTunes for the first time tonight, but that is not working either.

I tried a pull the plug reset and now it seems to be working better, but still super buggy, some videos I click on, and it wont let me back out for 20 seconds or so.

Pfft....

$99 device capable of 720p, in a situation where ISPs are implementing monthly usage caps left and right and you're upset it doesn't do 1080p?

Suit yourself -- but I'm quite happy with it for the price, myself. On any bedroom sized display, you're not going to see any real benefit to 1080p resolution over 720p anyway. (Many of us are using them that way, you know .... not always on a huge screen as the "primary" TV in the house.)

No 1080p, no sale. Get with the times, Jobs.

****Warning**** Don't Update Yet !

Had to unpower after update was locked up at main menu, Menus are now slow and intermittent, Netflix doesn't work. The update seems half baked to me.
