Apple Adds Dedicated Beats By Dr. Dre Accessory Section to Online Store

I'm 20 and had never heard of him either.

I'm 64 and never heard of him until this deal was announced. I'm so 'outofit' i didn't know there was a difference between hip hop and rap until I read these threads. Having said that, I like a lot of bass in my music.

I can't believe some people have never heard of Dr.Dre. I'm not into rap either, but the guy is a rap legend. He has launched countless rappers careers and he is pretty much respected in the industry.

This thread is very...interesting.

Let's be honest here. The vast majority of people whom are trashing Beats audio quality have NEVER even tried on a pair.

Exactly! People just jump on the 'hates beats wagon' and others are just put off by the price.

I got my first pair of beats studio a month. The beats solo are overpriced because the sound is meh. However the beats studios are actually pretty good. The noise cancelling is spot on. I was on a 14 hour flight 2 weeks ago and It was a pleasure not to hear the roaring engines the whole flight. and the sound quality of pretty smooth as well.

Not saying beats are the best out there but they are still pretty good headphones.

People shouldn't knock something unless they try it. it is like apple haters who bash macbooks and iphone without ever owning one.

Rap has zero appeal for me so I don't follow anything related to it at all. Never saw a Harry Potter movie either. :)

I never saw or read anything from the Harry potter series. But I know who he is. Rap doesn't really appeal to me but I know who dr dre is. I also don't like country but I know who Johnny Cash is.

Don't make excuses for being pop culturally challenged.:p

Beats are by no means bad headphones.
Compared to what most people own they are very good, but then again most people doesn't spend much money on them.

However there are much better headphones in the range Beats are selling.
I own several headphones and I used different pairs for different music.

Where I live the Solo 2 costs more than Beyerdynamics 770 pro, or Grado SR80, which I both own (so I might be a bit biased), and they far inferior to both in different categories. If you want something bass heavy the 770 are better and more balanced, if you want a brighter and more open sound the Grado is also far superior. The SR80 is half the price of the Solo 2 here btw.

Considering the production cost is estimated as low as $14, it is not a wonder the beats are sucky.

"Beats by Dre", should of been a really clear message to say they don't sound good. Now Apple is throwing the world "science" in there too. Worse than Bose saying "better sound through research" Unless there was a sound engineer who happened to have a PhD named Dr. Dre , this is like saying Beats by lil wayne

Yeah, but you know who Harry Potter is.

I vaguely recall hearing the Dr. Dre name, and yes, obviously I have heard of Harry Potter because it was everywhere. :)

But really Dre wasn't a name that was in my family, social or business circles at all.

Wow... with all the crap people talk about Beats being a fashion accessory first and sound quality second... I think Beats is on to something if people care about how their headphones "look."

That we are.... That we are...

It may shock you that the origins of headphones was to listen to music, unbelievable eh!!!!! These days people only know them as bling fashion accessories.

There are rumours of old people still using them for music.... Fools eh ;)

What's up with the aggression? are you honestly so blinded that you cannot understand why people don't want to walk around town with something on their head that looks like it's from an alien spaceship (and almost as big)? You don't have to act like I said looks > quality, so I'm not sure why you guys are raging that hard. I'm just stating something that many people (especially outside of MR) would deem true.

I agree that they don't have a lot of 'bling', which is exactly why I like the way they look. They look professional rather than flashy, I'm not trying to make a fashion statement.

Plus the sound quality is quite good. And the price is very reasonable.

That's completely fair and good. Enjoy the sound and quality you get with the better headphones. Nonetheless, a lot of people do care about fashion, especially if it sits on your head.

I certainly think they look better than most of the other headphones out there. Does that make me buy some? No. Do a lot of people think otherwise? Obviously.

I don't understand what age has to do with anything here. Yeah, I'm 56 years old and have no idea who Dr. Dre is, but I seriously doubt it's my age that has anything to do with it.....

Yeah, I'm a Big Beatles and Paul McCartney Fan - But also a BIG Sinatra fan which is WAY before my time,. As I sit here typing this morning, my iTunes is churning out Joyce Manor and State Champs, 2 of my favorite bands (at the moment of course).....

Good music doesn't belong to any particular age group.

You make a valid point. Nor does it belong to any particular ethnic group as some here think. I've got about 40 gigs of music that includes Dr. Dre, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, Tupac, Sam Smith, Ray Charles, Elton John, Allman Brothers, etc. Good music is timeless in my opinion.
