Your not getting sports without cable unless your getting it from your HD antenna (and there is no blackout); you think they're paying billions and you'll get the NFL, NCAA, NHL, MLB for nothing?

I never said I have an expectation of paying nothing. I said that I am a cable cutter. All that means is that I refuse to pay ComCrap for their horrible service. Still stuck with them for internet, but not giving them anything more than I have to.

As for your other comment, if you think that a cable subscription is the only way that a sporting event makes money then you simply do not understand how things work.

say you have kids or a wife or both and want to watch the game on another TV in peace and quiet and don't want to rent a second cable box for $10 a month

or your wife hates violence and you want to watch the hockey playoffs and stanley cup games

yes indeed, this keeps me from having to rent another cable box

with the salaries being what they are today, that's how most teams pay their players

if they wont bother with an UI refresh they should at least take the time to allow folders to categories this mess

I wish they would put all the sports channels in one folder. That would make it much easier to hide them.

This NBC Sports 'channel' is progress, but like roughly half of the 'channels' on Apple T.V., it requires a cable subscription. It would be great to be able to watch Baseball games without having to subscribe to cable or the $100/year MLB.T.V. service.

So this is really no different the going on the web and signing into NBCSports?

How about fixing Authentication for HBO Go so Charter Communication customers can finally access it (That's what Charter tells customers blame Apple).

I think it is time to Amazon Prime there is a lot more Sports and barely any Movie/TV Show streaming and their many free ones other than crackle.

Apple. Please. Update. The. U. I.

The neverending list of channel bricks is killing us.

So I have to buy a cable subscription to watch a channel on Apple TV that I can already watch on my existing cable? What's the point of this?

If you already have a cable subscription, I expect you'll be able to use your current info to authenticate the channel. So, no.

get... another one i have to hide.

Just keep piling them on there Apple :p Maybe content creators would get more money if they expandable their watching audiences... :apple:

What's the point of watching previews of stuff that i know i cannot get ?

I'm also not a sports fan.... so that's me out of the picture.

lets you watch it on other TVs without having to pay for additional cable boxes. people with second homes or who travel for long periods of time also take advantage of this

Finally!

I have been waiting and waiting to watch Premier League games out here without using AirPlay. Just realized though... that it's impossible to put my Apple TV through a VPN though so....

There is a lot of content which you can't watch on TV.

For example, NBC might be covering more than one sporting event at a time. So maybe they are covering three different hockey games today, and which one you see is determined by which market you are in. On TV you can only watch that one game. On Live Extra, you can pick whichever one you want.

Also on Saturdays/Sundays, they have every Premier League game available to stream, while only one is shown on TV.

This is not true, at least for Directv. They show all games on Extra Channels 491-whatever. Nice feature Directv has.

are you afraid that NBC will know where you are streaming from even though they have your account info?

sweet.

Once I move i'll be forfeiting my directv and i'm a big hockey fan.

Thankfully my sister has Directv and my parents have time warner, between those two I get a lot of content on AppleTV.

Still hoping for amazon prime to be added.

This is great news! No more buggy airplay every Saturday and Sunday morning for the footie.

For those complaining about "another channel not to watch" or "another channel to block", this is for you -

Nice to see something happening at all. Apple TV is literally dead in Germany/Europe...there was no meaningful content added at all in the last couple of years...

FINALLY! Hockey has made its way to the Apple TV. I hope this bodes well for any service they're working on. I'd love to drop DirecTV once and for all.
