iTunes v. iToner (and hacks)
IMHO iTunes supposed 500,000 available ringtones do not even come close to meshing with my preferences. Having searched on a long list of artists, I came up with only a handfull of ringtone-capable tracks, NONE of which are in my iTunes library.
This makes iToner (or a hack) a no-brainer for me. (And I am an older consumer, neither particularly price-sensitive nor latest-trend-must-have type.)
I don't mind the fees so much as I mind the restrictions on opportunities. I will never have LOTS of ringtones, but I would like to have what I want. iTunes may or may not ever provide that opportunity.
I'm too lazy (and too scared) to hack, but I am not a Mac novice, nor do I feel constrained by Apple's tepid offerings.
