So how does this work?
When you buy a new car is there an options package for Apple or Android support?

If so the used car market is going to have a strange market segmentation.

"I found the perfect used car... but it has Android Auto... what a deal breaker!"

The ratio will probably reflect the phone market in favor of Android.

Also, no upgrade announcements? Should be an easy firmware update for most modern cars.

Just installed Pioneer NEX 6000 unit in my Porsche Boxster S 2002. Very, very versatile and Apple Carplay will be a software upgrade this Summer all for about $1100.00. Very easy clean install removing the old Becker German radio and cup holders.
