It took me about 14 phones before I finally found a near perfect one. I had been getting space gray and decided to try my luck with a gold one and got lucky.
Smh you have problems.

Going to have to agree. Can’t imagine spending that amount of time swapping.Smh you have problems.
Hello all
Couple of days ago I've finally got my XS Max in Space Grey - I had to return the Gold version since it wasn't to my liking. I even got a little friend help me to unbox it:

This is what I saw upon closer look, while iOS update was installing in the background.

What's even more interesting is that Apple Support straight forward admitted, via email that this is a cosmetic defect created during production. Historically they used to deny those kinds of things.
I'm curious:
1) Do you agree with me that Apple's QC has gotten visibly worse for the last 2-3 years? Personally I've never experienced it pre-macbook-2016 time and pre-iPhone8Plus ever.
2) Has your XS or XS Max arrived spotless?
On a side note, that back is beautiful though:

I am the one who has been through over 10+ phones too. I am also not flagged by Apple because every time when I return, I inform them with an issue and they were all noticed that. All over 10+ phones I have been through there were grey uniformity issue 4 of those, yellow tint on the half top of screen 2 of those , dust under camera Len and dust and dust under screen. When it comes to an expensive phone, I expected a better quality. Trust me, returning phones was not fun at all.if the phone is perfect, I would not be so stressed exchanging my phone.Sorry for my EnglishHave you checked with Apple to see if you’re ‘flagged’? (And I ask seriously). Another Member was flagged for excessive returns and was not notified by Apple until attempted another return, in which they were denied.
Regardless, what’s interesting what you said in your post, is that it took you ”14 phones to actually find a near perfect one”, which you’re still saying the ‘15th’ phone still isn’t perfect. My thoughts are that if you have 14 defective phones, then maybe iPhone isn’t for you in general. I understand defects can occur with phones and I’m not saying you have not found legitimate issues with your phones, but I have never heard of anyone returning 14 phones.
I’ve purchased every new iPhone since the 5s came out without an issue and I’ve never had to return a phone. This year is the first one where I keep getting abnormalities in the devices. The one I have now has a good screen and no gaps around the SS housing and screen, but the SIM card tray is not flush with the SS housing. The tray is pushed in too far causing an uneven surface. This is the only one I’ve noticed a SIM tray issue on.Have you checked with Apple to see if you’re ‘flagged’? (And I ask seriously). The majority had a gap between the screen and the SS housing in random spots. One apple employee tried to tell me this was an intentional design due to how they remove the screens starting at the bottom, but he couldn’t explain why some phones had gaps at the top, or why the X didn’t have it. They were mostly week 32-33 builds. And one phone had dust under the glass cover on the rear camera. The gold one I have that doesn’t have a gap is a week 38.Can you list the 14 'defects' you found in previous phones? I'm curious about the crazy I see in this forum.
[doublepost=1542619370][/doublepost]I got an XS gold 256 couple of weeks ago and got it exchanged because there was some glue like substance stuck in between the bottom edge of the rear glass and metal bezel. The second one I got had some small abrasion (about 1-2mm) on the shiny metal bezel next to the glass, at front near the speakers. AND, some glass imperfections at the back near the camera.Hello all

Last year I had an 8 Plus in which the glass back was set in crooked. One side was raised up higher out of the frame. That’s the first time I ever received an Apple product with a cosmetic defect. I looked it up on the forum and it was a common defect that didn’t affect function, so I just ignored it. But then I found out there was something wonky with my lightning port and my lightning earbuds wouldn’t work properly in them. So for that issue, I returned it. It seems the whole phone was just more out of alignment than it initially appeared.
I think a lot of these crooked looking cosmetic defects seemed to have cropped up when they started going for ip67 water resistance. They use a lot of sealant and it seems easier now for pieces that once fit perfectly flush to get visibly out of alignment. Most of the time this is just a cosmetic defect.
As for the dust under camera lenses, I think someone demonstrated in part that was an issue with design. The glass on new dual lenses models has a hole for the flash.
These phones just have additional levels of complexity to them that previous ones didn’t. And yes, Apple makes so many more of them now as they expand their markets into more countries.
As I’ve been switching cases on my Xr I have come to notice the bottom right corner of my phone doesn’t seem to fit in quite as flush as the other corners. It’s ever so slightly sticking up out of the case a very tiny amount. When I looked at Amazon reviews for some cases, some which I have and some that I don’t, I have come across mention of similar fit issues.Had the exact same issue with the XS Max I had. Bottom corner was raised up. That’s interesting. But the XR and XS I have are perfect. Same being for the other previous devices I have had which is all of them this far.
Not saying defects don’t happen though. Obviously as I just had one myself.
My case with iPhone Xs Max is even more weird... it seems like it is a mis-assembly in the assembly line. Probably a the Chinese assembler took a nap while assembly my device....
what are your assumptions, guys ?
