yet there was less illegal immigrants during Biden than Trump's first term.
The Soro's financed Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, and The National Immigrant Justice Center. must be sending you love letters. The actual figures have been so gaslighted as to be useless. ICE reports over 10 million crossed the border illegally during Biden's time in office. This does not count what they call "gotaways", perhaps another 1.2 million. Trump's final year in office spiked to about 900,000 thanks to well-financed hoards from Central America, China, Syria, and Africa.

And how did your European ancestors obtain the land? Legally?
What a bunch of BS. North American peoples, for the most part, had no concept of land ownership. The Indian statement often heard by Mountain Men in My part of the world in the 1820s was "how can you own something you cannot take with you." My Scottish/Arcadian ancestors were sailors in New England in the late 17th century. Later in the mid-18th century, they moved into the Appalachian Mountains. There, they married into the Cherokee. Don't try to pin European land ownership traditions to people who had no such traditions. It was a clash of cultures.

This is, almost, what he is proposing in Gaza.
You do not understand what Trump is doing. Look at the news coming out of the Middle East. Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia are having a summit about what to do with the Palestinians and Gaza. This is something they have never done. They are taking Trump seriously, and they don't want the US to take over Gaza. A regional solution will be worked out. The key to a solution will be when Saudi Arabia signs into the Abraham Accords negotiated by President Trump during his first term. Israel and the UAE have full diplomatic ties. Saudi Arabia was set to join when October 7th happened.

To those of you celebrating this change, when did you start calling the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America? Because before a month ago, I had never heard one person even comment that it should be renamed. It’s not like this was a major grass roots movement. It was and is a just poke in the eye of Mexico to show “America strong Mexico weak”.

100%

People rallying around this very randomly chosen change seems indicative of simply supporting whatever ones "team" does

That can lead to some very dangerous outcomes (no matter what "team")

So the people who made us rename everything from military bases to football teams to pancake syrup are very upset about this Gulf of America thing, aren’t they
No, I just think it’s stupid pandering.

Hopefully, most reasonable people can understand the difference between renaming things named after traitors and racist stereotypes and renaming an international body of water because you can.

It was considered a few pages back that my knowledge about the history about America had a gap, which I agreed to. So I can't see a point with your post.
I highly reccommend to go pay your respect to the Native American's in you country instead if arguing with a European that had forgot some of the history lessons, temporarely.
Rather than getting defensive, you could admit your ignorance on the subject and stop expounding on it. I don't think it should take a history lesson to realize that a country was discovered by its natives. That's basic logic and common sense

Oh, you mean the policies that Barak Obama put in place that Donald Trump is continuing?

Those policies? https://www.aclu.org/news/smart-jus...wants-continue-imprisoning-immigrant-families
Obama didn't create concentration camps for illegal immigrants. That was not an Obama policy, it was a Donald Trump policy

But yeah, I also have a problem with Democrats treating immigration like a criminal issue when the problem is our outdated, inefficient system of immigration.

Democrats and the Left are pretty good at criticizing each other when we get something wrong. That's why the saying "reality has a liberal bias" continues to be true. It's not really that reality has a liberal bias, it's that liberals have a reality bias. They get things wrong, but we call each other out and hold each other accountable, at our best

Oh man, wait until you learn about the black people who sold them to the white people. And about the black people who first bought them in America. And the black people that still do in Africa. And the Chinese that do in China. Your head is going to explode. 🤯
First of all, you're really revealing your ignorance here. African tribes would sell people of other African tribes into slavery.

Was that OK? Obviously not.

Did African tribes sell their own people into slavery? Nope!

Did they create a vast, trans-Atlantic Slave trade that went on for hundreds of years? Nope!

Did America use slavery to build the entire country and economy? Yup!

But it's really transparent that you don't care about what actually happened or about right or wrong because you think things should only apply to people you want them to apply to. This is such a ridiculous comeback. It's all about finger pointing, completely ignoring the content of my comment. It's obvious your goal is simply to defend your "team" without any sense of self reflection or even giving yourself a moment to process what I said

And you answered my question: Yes, reparations are off the table because reasons. You didn't even bother to supply an actual reason, you just immediately went to "black people do it too!" It's the same as when you scream about "black on black crime" when someone points out the horrible statistics of police violence on black neighborhoods

That was a small part. The biggest part he got voted in for, he's doing on a massive scale. Massive illegal immigrant deportation, cutting the most useless stuff from the government. Sorry for all of those Iraqi Sesame Street fans, but you'll have to pay for your own kid shows now.
Do you think using military transport a better use of the money instead of a commercial plane? The Colombia stunt alone cost 800k for a trip. A business trip costs much less.

Shows that it’s all for the show rather than actually getting things done.

Not to stand in the way of a good rant, but what do you disagree with in either of my posts that you quoted?
It’s not about agreement with what you said. What I’m saying responding with is… even though I don’t agree with pettiness, especially from potus, it’s not entirely surprising that he wants to taunt and pound his chest considering the attempts on his life, arguably bogus felony charges, etc. Still, I don’t think anyone cared or was concerned it was called Gulf of Mexico.

Transport plane works better. If another country denies letting us land to drop them off, we can just give them parachutes and drop them on our way back home.

I don't think any of us are surprised by the pettiness of a narcissistic fraud, traitor, liar, and leaker who regularly obstruct justice without ethical boundaries. We've experienced it for 9 years now. Renaming international bodies of water to pander to his own legacy and illegally retaliating when an international press service chooses not to use it is exactly the kind of pettiness we expect from him.

What is not funny is that Drug industry research is funded in the US by high drug prices and government grants. When a drug is developed in the US, its production is shipped offshore. The price remains high in the States. The cost of Lovastatin in the UK for 28 tablets is £1.10; in the US, it is between $15 and $20 for 30 tablets. Americans are paying most of the price for the development of new drugs. Because of the "Do no harm" mantra of the FDA, people in the States are denied effective drug treatments long used in Europe. In the Southwest, people go into Mexico to buy medications. Made by the same pharmaceutical companies, but in Mexico, they cost a fraction of what they cost in the States. I wonder if JFK Jr. will have something to say about that.
One of the many benefits of socialized medicine is lower drug prices since the costs are negotiated by the health care system instead of obfuscated behind insurance where they aren't subject to free market forces. Not sure how that relates to the conversation though.

Apple is in the process of renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, and changes are already being made to the Apple Maps app. When searching in the Maps app for Gulf of Mexico, the Gulf of Mexico name is shown or the name is blank, but tapping into the area shows the "Gulf of America" wording.

According to Bloomberg, Apple is rolling out the Maps change in the United States today, so the name should shift for most U.S. users in the near future. Apple plans to change the name for all users globally in the future.

Google this week also made good on its promise to adopt the new naming, and "Gulf of America" is now visible in both Google Maps and Waze.

Google and Apple use data from the U.S. Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) when naming world locations, and GNIS updated its database with the "Gulf of America" name change this week.

Google has explained that Maps users in the United States will see "Gulf of America" instead of "Gulf of Mexico," while users in Mexico will continue to see Gulf of Mexico. In the rest of the world, the name for the body of water between Mexico and Florida will continue to be named Gulf of Mexico, but Gulf of America is shown in parentheses below. Apple might adopt similar changes outside of the United States.

When U.S. President Donald Trump took office on January 20, one of his first orders was changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. Other countries do not refer to the area as the Gulf of America and are not required to accept the U.S. name.

Trump also said that Alaskan mountain Denali was being renamed to Mt. McKinley, but Google Maps and Apple Maps have not yet made that change.

Just a revolting capitulation.

No one but the serious toadies is calling it "Gulf of America". This is just like when France didn't support the Iraq invasion and people tried to call french fries "freedom fries".

Is this normal for companies to make changes on EO's? It is not a law
The executive branch is authorized to maintain a database of official names used by the federal government through the U.S. Geological Survey agency, so it can legally be updated through an EO.

Of course, despite the president’s wish for everyone to use the new names because he says so, it has no force outside of the executive branch.
