Apple Adopting 'Gulf of America' Naming for Apple Maps

I'm not sure the US government will even ask the vendors for the data. They appear to just walk in and take it.
Don’t forget to change all the american cities from English towns/cities to something else (New York to New Trump, New Hampshire to New JD Vance, etc.!)
its still wild to me how much power the president of the United States has on his own. WILD. I was never fully aware of it until Trump took power but there have been so many instances where I was like how the F can he just decide this on his own, overnight. its truly mind boggling to me. In fact, it seems down right authoritarian.
This is the first time a change to a geographic area makes it to Apple Maps in under 6 months.
Apparently it was somehow geographic DEI. And fixing it lowers the price of groceries, probably.
This is pathetic and Apple is even more pathetic applying this nonsense worldwide. At least Google limited it to the country who elected this unhinged man.
That article states, ‘Anti-corruption watchdog Transparency International said FCPA made the United States a leader in addressing global corruption.’ That’s a bit laughable when your president has the power to just pardon anyone they want, effectively overturning justice (and all the hard work of enforcing it) on a whim.
Makes one wonder what this move is supposed to distract us from. We're here arguing about the (lack of) point in renaming a body of water instead of listening to what else they're up to.

I remind you: I said nothing about "the libs"! I said "the American political class loves renaming stuff [...] I think it's silly"!
That said: Yes, the Gulf of Mexico is not named after the country of Mexico, because it had that name before the country existed. Both the Gulf and the country (along with the US State of New Mexico) are named after the Mexica, aka the Aztec Empire: A regime built on human sacrifice, extreme oppression of indigenous peoples, etc.
Again, I called the American political class's habit of renaming stuff "silly" (be it gulfs or military bases)! But my point is: You could make much the same moral case for renaming stuff which was named after the Aztecs, as you could for renaming stuff which was named after American Civil War generals.
To be clear, my comment wasn't directed at you, just was using it as a jumping off to make a point. Should have made that more clear!

Why are you both thinking there will be a “next election”? Does anybody actually foresee him giving up the role again?
Just today, the story is he doesn’t see his VP as his successor. If your "#1" is not your natural successor in a "lame duck" second term, what would be the alternative option?
