when the heck are they releasing the merom based model.

i am so ready.

I want a new MacBook but I'm putting it off until I get my tax return and hopefully the Merom Macs will be released by then.

Personally I think it would make sense if we get the Merom MacBook Pros, MacBooks and iMacs next month. I think Apple is really doing the hard push for the new Macs and to persure the Windows users to join the Dark Side.

You mean pressure Windows users to STEP AWAY from the dark side, right? 🙂

My MacBook arrives today (if UPS actually does what they're supposed to!!) but I will upgrade to a merom MB if, if, the chipset and IGP gets an upgrade. If its a simple processor switch I won't be that bothered as the current MB's cover my needs quite nicely...

Is it expensive and does it take a lot of time to change processors?

Expensive? just go to the apple store and look at the price of a new macbook.

the price to upgrade of course will be the difference between the new MB cost and the resale value of the old one.

You cannot change the processors etc. inside a macbook- they are soldered onto the logic board.
