I don’t think we forget that the people that lose their jobs are in fact, people. Something tells me they won’t “starve” if they have been saving any of the money they’ve been making investing. I hope they find jobs soon and I’m sure they will.

I also don’t think the quality of the ads going forward will suffer.

Well depends on their position in the company, a lot of the designers and creatives in these orgs aren't paid as well as you think even with an exclusive client like Apple.

Apple advertising partner Media Arts Lab has let go of approximately 50 employees, reports Bloomberg. Media Arts Lab is owned by TBWA\Chiat\Day and Apple is its only client.

Staff cuts were made in multiple divisions, but many of the employees who were let go worked in the strategy division that helped Apple create ads for its newest products.

In a statement to Bloomberg, a Media Arts Lab spokesperson said that the firm's relationship with Apple "has never been stronger."Apple's VP of Marketing Communications Tor Myhren said that Apple asked Media Arts Lab to evolve its marketing approach as Apple evolves its own approach too.Media Arts Lab has worked with Apple for decades and has been responsible for some of Apple's most compelling ads, including the famous "1984" ad for the original Macintosh, the "Get a Mac" series with Justin Long, and the well-known silhouette ads used for the iPod and iTunes.

More recently, Media Arts Lab was responsible for the "Welcome Home" video for the HomePod starring FKA Twigs, Apple's 2019 "Shot on iPhone" tour featuring bands like Florence and the Machine, and the "Bounce" ad for the AirPods.

Apple started creating some of its ads in house approximately five years ago, but has also continued to work with outside ad agencies. Apple two years ago began focusing more heavily on digital and regional ad campaigns, which previously led to layoffs at TBWA\Media Arts Lab.

would help apple to have outside, independent advertising, oh well.

If you want to know why all of this is happening, you have to read the book Frenemies. So many companies are doing the same thing by bringing everything in-house due to mistrust in AD Agencies. The initial blow back happened about 4 years ago and since then, there has been a mass exodus from companies as a whole choosing to create ADs in-house rather than with an AD Agency. It's not just Apple....

You need to put a sarcasm tag on your response. Otherwise it seems a contrived troll. Those laid off employees will starve? Really? And it’s all Apple’s fault? Really? Can we sympathize with those who lost their jobs? Absolutely, but people lose their jobs every day in every walk of life. There is no such thing as a job for life. The economy changes, technology changes, businesses fail for varying reasons and people lose their jobs. What would you do if you owned a business that lost a major client and your were faced with closing down and letting all of your employees go or laying off just enough to keep going? Unless you’ve been in that predicament you have no idea how hard it is to make that decision.

Those laid off employees will likely find jobs in the advertising business somewhere else, and quickly.
I’m not being sarcastic. Stop being so distasteful.
