Apple Again Changes EU App Store Rules and Fees to Comply With DMA

They are for mobile platforms (smartphones).
Cause they make the rules how they can be sold and/or used.
Apple can stop pushing devs to want to sell outside the official app store. And this only applies to people in Europe.
Pff, why is Apple so stubborn. It's so simple:
App Store apps pay 15 or 30 %.
Outside of App Store: Nothing.
That's it.

You don't have to go outside the app if you don't want to.
Just because the gates to the walled garden have been unlocked, doesn't mean you have to leave. You are free to stay a prisoner on a voluntary basis - nobody is forcing you to use apps distributed outside the App Store.
👉 Use other apps. Problem solved.

Nominal hosting fees for the app?? But I should be allowed to host that app on my own site with needing to pay apple.
Now with Notarization for macOS apps just need to pay that yearly dev fee so why not the same for ios?
Considering Google makes most of their money through advertising, that's exactly what they are receiving when you find things through Google services.

Imagine Target not letting you buy goods anwhere else because you bpight their fridge.
The law doesn't care about "monopolies". If Android's user base was split between 5 other companies all competing with each other and Apple for users, these draconian regulations would still apply to Apple, because the law was written based on number of users NOT number of market competitors.
Forcing you to switch to Android to have an open ecosystem so a closed one can still exist? An outrageous suggestion. Forcing me to switch apps to allow a developer to use Apple's IP for free? A-ok.
What if you bought that fridge and knew and accepted that was the limitation -- if you buy this fridge you can only buy food to fill it from Target? You might complain, but you knew the limitations before you bought the fridge.
I’m not saying Apple should only allow installing apps from the App Store, I’m simply clarifying that people understand the terms and limitations going in.

no? if I discovered a service through the App Store and then I was brought through external payments system, apple got $0.

Android has 3x marketshare of mobile platforms than iOS
didn't stop devs from leaving the Mac app store where I paid for an app and had to switch to external app/payments to continue using the app.
...and it's about 50-50 in terms of app spending/revenue.
App would not exist without Apple's property, and an open ecosystem exists in Android. No one is forced to buy or develop for iOS. But Big Brother EU knows best. Closed ecosystems are verboten!
nope. didn't stop Mac developers from forcing me to go outside the app for something I paid for.
Which it looks like Apple will be chnaging to keep getting revenue from the app store.
The simply markup the develop’s take, just like when Aldi marksup what’s in their store.
They do, it’s called advertising revenue.
Neither would Apple('s iOS ecosystem) exist without third-party developers and apps.
It's just that Apple are masters in playing the many of them off against each other.
The DMA tips the scale in favour of a more balanced state between them (developers vs. Apple).
The same people who say asking them to switch to Android so they can have the open ecosystem they want is outrageous. They get to have their cake and eat it too, but no one who wants a closed ecosystem is entitled to one because they say so.

There are myriads of reasons - that have nothing to do with distribution/monetisation/payments - for consumers to prefer one over the other.
