Anyone else having issues with getting pre approved through Verizon. Says my pin doesn’t match the pin on file and Verizon is clueless.

Does anyone know, can you set up the iPhone upgrade program for the X, or do you already need to be an Upgrade Program customer?

It hasn’t worked all day for me, but I’m not currently in the upgrade program.

TIA

It’s only for existing Program customers.

Can someone please confirm for me when you order an iPhone and you choose Apple upgrade does it or does it not lock you in for the shipment date while you are waiting for approval

What a silly policy that is. If you are an existing upgrade program customer why would you need to get a loan approved? You already have the loan.
The loan you currently have wouldn't have a big enough line of credit to cover your remaining balance plus the new phone so it's a new line of credit.

You will decide this on pre order night. If you get it delivered to your house they will send you a package to return your old phone. If you do pickup in store, you will give your old phone to the retail store where they will close out the loan
I am going to ship to store, but I am not going to trade mine in. I am going to payoff the loan myself and sell my 7.

For those that upgrade (after returning existing phone) the current balance goes away and a new 24 month plan starts...with probably higher $/month. If there are no known issues with current account, it probably goes through quickly. However this is step 1 in the process, and the actual buy occurs on 10/27 or later. That's when $ might change hands and credit things need more validation.

Sure, if you return your phone in a store when you pick up a new one. But when you order online there’s a period of time when two loans are open simultaneously because the old loan doesn’t fully close until they’ve received your old phone. That’s why citizenbank has to decide if you’re still good for it.

Download the Verizon app on the iOS store. Then in the help assistant type “find out my pin” or something similar. It’ll give you a link to click and change your pin in the app.

Note you must be signed in to do this.

Worked for me through the iOS app - only took a few minutes.

Current IUP member since 2016, have made 12+ payments, T-Mobile - was successfully pre-approved for the X via the app. No probs. I'm all set for the 27th.

So yeah, looks like if you are a T-Mobile customer already on the IUP its all good - no red tape.

So many people responding who are in Apple upgrade but none confirming if the shipping date is locked in while you wait approval.

Come on folks, I’m hearing it is locked and other times no.

How would we know? This is a thread about pre-approvals for the program. This isn't even pre-orders. It just simplifies the process for the actual order on Friday morning. Anything beyond that is pure speculation based off reports and the wording on the site.

people would know because when they ordered the 7 or 6s with apple upgrade program they would know if it saved your shipping date before getting approved. Pre approval people have already gone through this process before.

The pre-approval is new this year. Last year was the first year for renewals in the upgrade program and it appears that your spot in line is processed when you complete the order. Last year after some outrage that AUP members were getting late deliveries Apple reached out and moved up deliveries for a lot of orders. So it's completely unknown at this point if the same might happen this year.

Understood but I also asked in other threads who ordered the 8 and was told shipping date was locked in.

Maybe Apple does lock it in due to the prior complaints. Approval should be instant if you have good credit.

Well all the people who have gotten pre-approvals yesterday and today don't have shipping dates because the orders aren't actually placed until Friday morning so check back in once pre-orders are actually made.

Missing point. People who are preordering now early already enrolled at one point.

When they originally enrolled a year ago or so. Was the shipping confirmed before or after approval of loan?

People have mentioned how shippping was confirmed before and held and others said shipping date only confirmed after approved.

This thread has users who already enrolled last year. I’m askind based on prior experience

I wouldn't make a single assumption for how it will work for people enrolling for the first time this year based on what happened last year because other aspects of the ordering process are clearly different.

Thank you. That is true. That may be why iPhone 8 buyers said shipping was locked in. Maybe they switched it.

I suppose that Apple could provide a shipping date based on the iPhone you pre-authorize. But pre-authorization doesn't guarantee that you'll actually place a pre-order or order, so Apple would be earmarking some phones needlessly. I doubt that this would happen very often, but they may not do it for the X because supplies will be so constrained.

Yes and no. I mean if I’m approved why shouldn’t i get my phone at date confirmed. If I was in stores buying it and they had it on the counter they wouldn’t give it to someone while I fill out my application. Just like any other credit application at a store.

I understand both though. My hope is they go in order of ordering and if approved you get it.

You get approved or apply before you order. You pick what you want. Select your method of payment. If you select AUP you then fill out the app. You then go back to the cart/order form, fill out delivery and confirm your order. So your “order time” comes after your application approval.

You are given a date before filling out the form. I tried it with the 8 earlier today and it does show you a ship date before you hit continue to apply for the upgrade program and fill out the application
