Apple Allowing iPhone Upgrade Program Customers to Get a 'Head Start' on iPhone X Upgrade

You will decide this on pre order night. If you get it delivered to your house they will send you a package to return your old phone. If you do pickup in store, you will give your old phone to the retail store where they will close out the loan

So the pre-verification process is live now but Apple screwed it up again.

I got through eligibility and choosing my phone upgrade but the carrier confirmation failed when I entered my ATT passcode. I tried multiple times and now Apple has me locked out for an hour.

I called Apple and I found out that a lot of people have the same problem. They suggested waiting a while before proceeding.

This is really idiotic. Are we dealing with a neophyte or an experienced multi-billion dollar company? Very disappointing!!!!

I think since it is online approval and mailing addresses and such they mail it and will just do the mail back after you get your phone. But in an article from Forbes they had the process for 8 preapprovals, the first screen of this portion talks about you having your old phone and it working until you get your new one and it is setup. I assume shortly after that they will (apple) send you the box for old phone.

I called them at 1-800-my-apple they acknowledged that return method was not included. They said it will be a question at final checkout. Something that may stall the process slightly (my thought). He confirmed that information with someone else.

What passcode? It wanted my phone number (already in on my phone autofilled) social security number, and billing zip code I had no problem?

thanks it does say there will be a few steps so it is not just a one button click for sure but all the preapproval is done and that usually for me (carrier, loan, my bank approval or whatever) was the larger problem and sometimes delaying my order approval til later in morning when institutions were open.

Would this be an in store option only then? I live over 500 miles from the nearest Apple Store

Edit: Also, any idea of a time frame of this as an option? Return window?

I see yeah I chose not to do with my AT&T it appears that it is causing problems. I hear that Verizon requires a pin now and for some that was not working either.
 
Anyone with ATT GoPhone plan have luck completing the steps?

I did have a passcode and it is only 4 digits not the website account password. I entered the code and I was able to complete the verification process very speedily with my wife’s phone. I still have to wait to get my phone upgraded because of the hour penalty.
 
I placed a seven year Fraud Alert freeze on my Credit Report, I didn’t unfreeze any of the reporting agencies.
My Pre-approval went right through, albeit Apple sent me a notice that Citizens Bank saw there was a Fraud Alert and they would call me to verify my ID within 24 hrs, which is how I have it set up. Apple also stated even if I haven’t been contacted by Citizens for verification and or been approved by the time the X is released, go ahead and order as if I was approved. Citizens contacted me less then an hour after I applied.

Fyi, Having a Credit Fraud Alert on your profile can be a hassle...but it has saved me numerous times from new accounts fraudulently being opened in my name. I have excellent credit and plan on keeping it. I’ve been attacked before, and it’s not fun. I recommend people should subscribe to a paid service of an ID Theft Protection business where you get alerted if anything pings your credit. And if you get hit they take care of all the paper work, make the phone calls, and make sure there are no crumbs from the Fraud left on your Credit Rating. There are free services...but you can’t rely on them to roll up their sleeves and take care of business. Just say’n
 
Super frustrated - My ATT number switch from personal to under my company's corporate account after I enrolled in Apple Upgrad Program. So right now even though I'm eligible, I cannot get pre-approved because my number is a business account.

Now I don't know how much longer this will postpone my iphone shipment date if I have to physically walk into store and upgrade on Oct 27th...

Trump? thought u were stuck with droid. My att account verification worked no prob, with the number of people ordering there will always be problems like yours. Just unlucky that u have to deal with it. best of luck.

multiple people have said you are given the confirmed shipping date when you order it even if it takes a few minutes to get approved.

are you saying this isn't true? I thought the credit stuff was also quick.
