Got a delivery date of November 23rd for my white 64gig wifi/cellular iPad mini. One day after my birthday! Wish it was sooner. :)

Whoohooo! Preparing for shipment. iPad mini 16GB White + Blue smart cover.

macorderupdate.com is what this site should be called. We can all expect another front page article about the first people doing unboxings of their iPad minis as well.

Of cause. MR will update us every single step of the way. Whether we like it or not.

I'm still surprised why there is no article about the new iMac box. That is really innovative in my opinion. I really want to see an unboxing of this new iMac box. Not for the iMac itself, more to see how the iMac was fit into the box.

Nice to see people's enthusiasm about receiving their minis, but I predict people will be disappointed by the screen size, relative to their iPads. I think minis will be great for new buyers, but if you already own an iPad (retina especially) I can already see the complaints about the screen being too small.

I'll welcome a new, full-sze iPad thats lighter, but when weight and portability are concerned, I take my iPhone with me. You still need to carry the mini in a backpack or briefcase (or purse), unless you carry it around by hand, due to its size. At the very least I'd have to see and hold one in person before committing to buy. Good luck to the early adopters though, I hope the minis meet your expectations.

My Dark Grey smart cover just shipped! It's weird that they separated the shipment this time around. Last time I remembered that they held my smart cover to ship it with my iPad 3.

Why is the iPad 2 $399?

I don't get it. Normally the iPad 3 would fall down a tier and take the place as the entry level model. This has been done with the iPhones hence we have the iPhone 4, 4S, and 5 to choose from.
With the iPad line we have the mini, iPad 2, and then iPad 4. Where did the iPad 3 go?

I see the iPad 2 as being way overpriced now seeing as you can get a refurb'd iPad 3 for $379 on apple's site. $399 is lot to pay for what you get in the iPad 2.
It would have made more sense to sell the iPad 3 at $399 and lose the iPad 2 completely giving you the mini, iPad 3, and iPad 4.

Plus the yearly update cycle apple always has is screwed up with the iPad line. I bet in six months Apple will update the entire iPad line to get them back on the yearly cycle.

The iPad 3 has a retina screen and sometimes an LTE chip, so either or both of those will definitely make it not worthwhile to have it as the intermediary device.

I do see the problem, because I believe unlike the iPhone the iPad 3 is done (when iPad Gen 5 comes out, the 3's will be gone, and only 4's at the lower pricing). My advice... "Sell Now".

There will still be a market for "retina" iPads, some will prefer the 30-pin connector, and not that many iPad 4 owners will want to sell after only 4 months. The real question is whether Apple has changed its cycle from March to October (also what they can do other than speed bump the next iPad - maybe a thinner iPad using the new screen technology from the mini?).

It might be down to the cost of the screen.

I would be very surprised to see new iPads in March. In my estimation, this is a deliberate move to push the iPads to the holiday quarter to maximize sales. As well as these things have been selling in the past two years, there is definitely a subset of the population who holds off each holiday season in anticipation of the new iPad just around the corner. Moving iPads to an Oct/Nov launch will eliminate this concern and poise Apple to have a blockbuster quarter in the biggest shopping period of each year.

And I think this also leaves the door open for another product category announcement in March. I think it's very likely that Apple has something up their sleeve for next spring, which is why they want to push the iPad up to October/November.

As for where the iPad 3 went, it's pretty simple. There's not enough to distinguish the iPad 4 and the iPad 3 so it wouldn't make any sense to keep the 3 in the lineup. The iPad 2, on the other hand, is sufficiently differentiable in specs to keep it in the lineup. Maybe you're interested in the big iPad but don't care about the retina display and just want a cheaper version. The iPad 2 is for you.

Yeah, still annoyed there were literally no white models available in the UK, with them showing 2 weeks shipping from the second the store opened. Thanks Apple.

No thanks. Saving money for a Surface Pro.

It's so thoughtful of people to post stuff like this.

Why, only this morning I called up my local supermarket to tell them I was getting my groceries from the farmers market instead. Wouldn't want them to worry about me running out of milk.
