Will it be possible to remotely run a real Mac from the iPad? If I knew that I could get a hold of my primary computer anytime I wanted to that would help in making the decision to buy.
Tons of them. Back to my Mac, Jaadu, Logmein, Backtomypc, and probably a dozen more.
That's exactly why I ordered an iPad. I'm moving all the files from my various computers to a new Mac Mini server and will access it remotely. It will mean I'll have ALL my files available all the time at a moment's notice.
Total blowout.
Like, who didn't see this coming?
Only a few dozen analysts, geeks and veteran Mac haters who insisted it would fail.
I never would have thunk this... eva.
I thought people bought apple products because they were awesome.
Apparently not.
The iPad is 'meh' not 'awesome'.
The iPhone is awesome, the mac pro is awesome, the 27inch imac is awesome, the 17" MBP is awesome and the (cracked)apple tv+airport extreme is awesome .
Everything else is 'meh'. That includes the ipad, ipods, small screen imac, mac mini and the magic mouse (i get some severe RSI from using it it's such a painful thing. I wonder how painful the ipad would be to use while laying down to type/read/multitouch ).
So it's no good just because it doesn't meet your needs? Apple was smart enough beginning about 10-15 years ago (when Jobs returned) to stop making products that they thought would suit everyone. They make great products that thrill a given audience. The people who love one product may not like another, but that's no big deal. The iPod, iPhone, and iMac have done spectacularly well and it looks like the iPad will, too. Not everyone has to have the same needs or desires as you.
Already ordered mine to ship to my office, a magnificent birthday present from my magnificent girlfriend.
Does she have a sister?
I agree with this. Not that I'm saying some people won't genuinely enjoy the iPad. But I know that if HP or Dell or Microsoft had released this EXACT product, it would flop.
That is, of course, nonsense. Neither Dell, HP, NOR Microsoft is capable of doing something like this. They've had plenty of years and have failed miserably. If by some miracle they DID come up with something novel - and they didn't manage to mess it up, people would buy it. Heck, people buy their junk products, why wouldn't they buy a good one from them?
Google is a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Despite Tough Talk, Google Still Censoring in China
That's one of the least problems with Google. Their blatant theft of intellectual property (by copying all the world's published books and making them available on the Internet) is completely unforgiveable. It has been put on hold, but they're still bribing legislators to try to get it passed.
I'm a big Mac fan, but I don't really think there is that much demand for this product. Too many pricing options -- not sure what to get here. No camera. Not to excited about it honestly.
Poll on CNN.com -- are you going to pre-order an iPad?
95% said NO
5% said YES
I've got to wait and see it first
I'm sure Apple is going to be broken hearted to see that only 17 million Americans plan to pre-order an iPad -- before they even get a chance to see one in person.
Do you have any clue how silly your post is?
{in reference to the Mac Cube} No, you didn't read my post. I said right now. As in currently. Not in the past, pre-Jobs. You disagree that Apple has managed to build brand image?
Maybe you were sleeping for those years, but the Cube was introduced after Jobs returned. So it IS an example of a Jobs-led Apple product and it clearly didn't do very well. Thus, your argument that Apple fans would buy anything Apple developed is cleanly disproven.
