Running low on iPads? Just use a rolling pin on an iPod touch and there you go; stock problem solved.

wow...there was so much criticism after the ipad was announced but now apple is already running low on supplies!

good for them!

i'll buy one too...but not so early...want to try it first :D

Not surprising; Apple fanboys (try not to take that as an insult) typically run Apple dry with the first shipment or two.

But I know that if HP or Dell or Microsoft had released this EXACT product, it would flop. But because it has an :apple: on it, it will be more successful. Somehow Apple has managed to create this incredible "can do no wrong" image. Jobs could take a crap and stick an :apple: on it and sell it and people would believe it's solid gold right now. It's a sheep mentality, but I guess kudos to Apple and their marketing team for creating such a strong brand.

Really?

You mean like the wildly successful Mac Cube?

....you don't really know what you are talking about, do you? It'd be a good idea if buy some Tums tonight. With that attitude, you'll need some help to control stomach acid.

I never would have thunk this... eva.
I thought people bought apple products because they were awesome.
Apparently not.
The iPad is 'meh' not 'awesome'.
The iPhone is awesome, the mac pro is awesome, the 27inch imac is awesome, the 17" MBP is awesome and the (cracked)apple tv+airport extreme is awesome .
Everything else is 'meh'. That includes the ipad, ipods, small screen imac, mac mini and the magic mouse (i get some severe RSI from using it it's such a painful thing. I wonder how painful the ipad would be to use while laying down to type/read/multitouch ).

In your opinion you mean? FWIW, the iPod revolutionised the planet, the iPhone revolutionised smartphones and dominated the global market within a year, and the iPad will do the same. People won't put up with crap - these devices are massive successes because they are insanely great. Yes, a small percentage may have issues with build, software or other faults - that's the nature of a production line and is unavoidable.

Actually not haha, though I do prefer Google services/products in general.

It's funny you mention Google though, because Google also has been pretty effective at developing its brand. If Google released an iPad it'd probably sell pretty well too. Right now, the way I see it, brand worship follows this pecking order.

1) Apple
2) Google
3) Everyone else (who don't have a chance in hell)

It's strange to me that a lot of people don't really evaluate the product as much as the label attached to it.

Google products, plural? Could you name TWO google physical hardware products please? Google does have a brand, which is synonymous with internet searching, it has nothing to do with real world hardware sales.

Remember, a person as self absorbed as him truly thinks that his opinions are much more than just opinion.

Will it be possible to remotely run a real Mac from the iPad? If I knew that I could get a hold of my primary computer anytime I wanted to that would help in making the decision to buy.

Yes, you can do that from the iPhone today. Use VNC client for iPhone. Likely there will be a newer version for the iPad to take advantage of the extra real state.

You can also SSH or Telnet to the computer from the iPad or iPhone.

With VNC you get the computer screen on the iPhone today.

To you and most techies, iPad may not be awesome. But to the "average" person who this is really targeting, iPad maybe awesome.

It's strange to me that a lot of people don't really evaluate the product as much as the label attached to it.

A lot of those other manuf like Dell and HP could not come up with something like it. They lack a really nice OS that scales well, they don't have all the pattents for multitouch, they dont have the ability to bring it all together under one roof and they do not have the same level of imagination. Since they are not Apple they also do not get the press excited and the customers excited like only Apple can.

It helps a lot to be Apple, but a lot of that is the level of control they have over the product (hardware / Software) and Imagination.

Apple does not make products that people has been wanting for a while. Apple produces products that the masses did not know they needed or wanted. People say Wow never thought of that, I need to get one.

i just smile at these netbook owners who either feel jealous of the iPad or feel dumb that they bought a netbook.
:D

As a netbook owner, let me add to this gratification you seem to acquire from others' jealousy or self doubt.

Yes....I am jealous for the following..

* I am jealous that for the past couple of years I have had an ultra portable computer running OSX Leopard instead of waiting for something that does not. Oh, and I also run windows 7 when needed.

* I am jealous that unlike the iPad I run all the software I use on my home computer(mac mini) on my netbook. Adobe, iLife, iWork, Aperture...etc...

* I am jealous that I spent HALF of what the Cheapest iPad model sells for.

* I am jealous that 10x the storage capactity of the base iPad was included with my netbook, HDMI, card reader, etc..

* I am jealous that I run a dual monitor setup with FULL HD 1080P resolution (Netbook & 24" Display) as opposed to iPads 1024x768. Of course you have to purchase the extra connection kit to output video on the iPad.

* I am jealous that I have a near full size actual keyboard to type on. And sadly no, it does not take up a significant portion of the screen when using it. Yes, it was included! No extra purchase necessary!

* I am jealous that I have full functionality of websites and apps, unlike the iPad.

* I am jealous that I have the option of going with any broadband wireless carrier versus being forced to the superbness of At&t.

* I am jealous that I have a built-in webcam!!!!

* I am jealous that I can connect ALL of my electronics, drives, accessories, etc to my netbook.

WOW, I never realized just how jealous I actually was! I DO feel really dumb! YOU must feel amazing now though! Oh well......Enjoy!!
:)

Ehhh like what?
a phone?
a mp3 player?
a computer?
a laptop?
a tablet (or what you want to call it)?

You are talking about the iPod-Pro right ? :p

Have fun :D

I'll give it a chance...

As soon as the iPad comes out in the UK, I'll get one and try it. If I don't like it, I will return it within 14 days. So far, it seems that I will have another trip to the store.

That way, I don't just help the hype, but I also help to fill up the refurbished stock.

Meh

I'm a big Mac fan, but I don't really think there is that much demand for this product. Too many pricing options -- not sure what to get here. No camera. Not to excited about it honestly.

You cannot imagine that for some of us, both the iPad and netbooks SUCK?

Chill out, it's just some cheap Chinese hardware!

iPod revolutionized the planet? MP3 players yeah; but the planet? hahahah!

This makes no sense; you make it sound like Apple comes up with all these idea's on their own (phone, music player etc); which at the least, is quite wrong. Apple simply takes idea's that have been around for (quite) a while and does their own version of them. By your logic people went; "Wow I think I need a phone! How did they ever come up with such an idea?" when the iPhone came out.

Business For iPad

A VGA output via an ad-on dock? hahahahaha

Nice of Apple to get all 1990's on us. Most are using HDMI. Nice to give us what we really want, Apple... just like fanboys claim!

Oh, yeah, I'll be one of those dolts literally camped out the night before in the BestBuy (or as I call it, PestBuy) ready to buy one of these suckers! lol Nah. I think "suckers" describes its buyers.

I will also not let him forget at launch, Steve said "this is the most important thing I've ever created!" and will recall that if sales don't pan out... like how Apple TV didn't pan out and is called by its own CEO the dreaded "H"-word (hobby). lol Might as well throw the MacBook Air in that "hobby" category when a product flops. It's aaaall about buzz w/ Apple. That's about all.

Giving consumers innovation they want and have never got before? Then why take out the camera when all its competitors are including it?

i'm happy knowing this is a sad and miserable day for apple-haters :D

After placing my order for two 64gigs delivered, ( I missed the pickup at store page ). I then placed two on hold for pick up, logged in as same user and was conformed a hold to pick up, I wonder if they will catch on and deny my in store pickup.

Uh oh, only 5% of Americans (let's assume thats who is answering the poll) are going to order an iPad. That's a paltry 15 million people. Apple really screwed up this time. At least it won't be as big of a failure as the iPhone, which barely half of one percent of people in the world own.

(Yes I know that these polls are actually pretty meaningless.)
