Per Ferrari of Lake Forest, Illinois website:

"After restructuring to establish Ferrari N.V. as the holding company of the Ferrari Group, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) sold 10% of their shares and distributed their remaining 80% of shares among FCA shareholders. 10% of Ferrari was and continues to be owned by Piero Ferrari (son of Enzo). Currently, Ferrari is primarily owned by the public:

  • 67.09% Public
  • 22.91% Exor N.V. (Owners of FCA)
  • 10.00% Piero Ferrari"
So, again, neither Fiat nor FCA own any of Ferrari any more.

Thank you, i just looked one up on Youtube. It seems the conglomerate was forced to brake up as it over-extended itself.
Oh no! Dang... the original guy seemed like a real go-getter. I'll have to research if he's still around and in what capacity for which business.

I've owned several Hyundais over the years and they've been solid vehicles. This will keep production of the cars in America, which is a great thing.

Hyundai makes better cars than Mazda or Subaru. Mazda and Subaru just make cheap niche cars. Hyundai however tries to make reliable premium vehicles and they are certainly getting there.
I’ve had 2 really bad experiences. Never again. And it’s not just about the product. It’s also about the after sales.

“they” don’t have Kia.
Kia is a completely different company.
Kia is part of the Hyundai group, so while they are separate just as Rolls and BMW, Chevy and GMC, they are part of the same corporation, which is Hyundai.

Tim Cook thinking of entering the smart car industry?

let's remember what happened in 2017.

As someone who rents cars constantly, I found over the years Hyundai has improved greatly in quality however the cars feel like they age very quickly. By that, I mean given all rental cars are late model year fleet vehicles and you have some distribution of encountering anything brand new to something a little older than that, older Hyundai cars are especially worn inside, almost as if it's not quite built to as high of a standard as some other manufacturers, car classes being equal.

Apple generally avoids niche brands. You might say Apple itself is a niche brand but they don’t see themselves in that way. They would probably want the market share of a Tesla not BMW or Mercedes
Are you ok? Tesla has sold only 500.000 cars in a whole year.

While the methodology used to rank a vehicle can have a massive impact on how it is ranked, Genesis tends to rank very high in owner satisfaction and reliability, and Hyundai's recent N division shows they are willing to take financial risks to do something different, and so this is not something that surprises me. My guess is it comes down to manufacturing capability, manufacturing capacity, R&D capability, and willingness to take more financial risks (well, calling this a 'risk' probably isn't the right term, but you know what I mean...it's a new type of collaboration that will almost surely yield a new type of car.)

The deal is that Hyundai will only responsible for the production line NOT the product design or performance.

OTHERWISE, This is like a disaster in the making, it's like signing an agreement with Nokia to produce the first generation of iPhone.
Production line is where a lot of issues come from, and Hyundai isn’t know for their quality.

Hyundai - really ?
actually thats a great choice. Currently Hyundai is one of the best car manufacturers on par or bit lower than Toyota. Who else do you suggest? German cars that break within 3 years? American sedans that disappeared from the market?
New comer Chinese? A British manufacturer? Jaguar maybe?

last I heard Hyundai gives 10 year guarantee.

The 1-Dimensional thinking process that is evident in the seemingly knee-jerk reaction based commenting on this website is really off-putting considering it's supposed to be a place where Apple enthusiasts congregate.
<snip>
You’ve been here long enough to know that a good portion of posters here are nothing more than apple-hating trolls, paid or not. The ignore list makes things almost tolerable 🤣

I agree. Apple is supposed to be super premium and high end and you sign with Hyundai. Count me out then. Wow. That will never compete with Tesla, BMW, Mercedes, etc... Very stupid move Apple.

Totally against Apple’s image. Desperation.

Daewoo used to make an S-class knock-off type car and it was pretty posh actually - in terms of comfort.

I like high end cars - but I’d be happy with a Hyundai lux car if Apple was in on it. Keep in mind I’m wanting it to be level 5 autonomous.

Just because Apple is working with Hyundai doesn’t mean we’re going to get a Hyundai Sonata: Apple Edition. Hyundai just knows how to make cars. It’ll be designed by Apple and manufactured by Hyundai.

It will not be designed by Apple. Apple can’t even design a charging mat, let alone an electric car. The only thing that will be designed by Apple is the autonomous driving tech.
