Why didn't Apple introduce the MBA 3 years ago?

To be fair, "a few years ago" you wouldn't have been able to find thin LED backlit displays, CPUs with the power/watt ratio of even the Merom, affordable SSDs, ....

In other words, no company, not even Apple, could have done the MBA if they'd attempted it 3 years ago.
