Did someone sue Mel Brooks yet? Because Spaceballs stole a page several pages from Star Wars! 😝

SERVANT is the best show on Apple TV+. That hysterical woman is most likely a gold digger trying to profit from other people’s work just because her movie also happens to feature a goddamn doll. She should get a life!

Yeah I think it's a great show as well. People were pretty negative on here about the announcement of Apple TV+ and I think went into watching its exclusives assuming they wouldn't be good.

My wife and I watched this really hoping for the best. We've enjoyed most of his movies, especially Sixth Sense, Signs and The Village, so we had no reason to go into these viewings with negative feelings.

Frankly, that's what makes it so much more disappointing. We've loved most of his other work.

To each his own. Everyone in our family really likes the series and we look forward to each episode. Is it just that you couldn't figure out what was actually going on?

No. It's just that after 5 episodes I don't CARE what's going on. I really don't.

totally different. there's no intentional effort to confuse or mislead the consumer. completely baseless lawsuit. there's always a ton of lawyers trying to go after big rich apple though.

Whoa! Didn't see that coming. It's the only show I am watching on Apple TV+. I quite like the show. Might have to check out that movie though.
This. Her bringing a suit that she likely knows will bring her something:

1. More attention on the Emmanuel film; money.
2. More attention on other projects of hers, past & present.
3. The outside chance of a small out of court settlement (the ATV+ show will certainly never be pulled, and she knows it, but some cash could be had nonetheless).

Yes cynical, but it's business.

The whole of Hollywood should sue each other, or be sued by foreign companies for their movies being copied. There is so little original content coming out of Hollwood. Give me original foreign movies any day.

'The Servant' is top-notch entertainment.

My dad was a successful commercial artist back in the day, and used to say, "If you change it 10%, it's legal." I'm not sure how true that adage is today ... maybe we're about to find out!

Uh, did I get a spoiler reading this? I'll sue if this is the case. I'll say I knew ahead of time the story, and this effected how I created images in my brain, and the resulting thrill decrease.

No. It's just that after 5 episodes I don't CARE what's going on. I really don't.
My husband and I are watching it, mainly because we have a grim, morbid determination to find out what the hell is going on with these crazy unlikable people. Also there's some amusement to be had in seeing Rupert Grint trying on an American accent and sometimes choking on it.

There is additional morbid fascination because the mom on the show reminds us so much of an acquaintance of ours. They share the same looks and fashion sense. Same mannerisms. Same intensely overly upbeat way of speaking that sounds like it could turn into a deranged rant if you say the wrong thing...but you're not quite sure what that wrong thing could be. There's just this sense that there's a trigger there, just out of sight.

The show is not meant to be in any way realistic or relatable, yet they've got a character that is in many ways a replica of an actual person we know. That freaks us out every episode, as we watch this mom character and wait to see what's up with her, even as we wonder what might be up with the woman we know in real life.

We would rather watch other shows, but really we can't look away. This is a really creepy freaky show. I haven't really watched series television in over a decade. I'm giving Apple TV a chance and I like the shows so far but this one is definitely bizarre. And really super inappropriate for the family. I laugh so hard when I recall how indignant everyone was when they thought Apple TV was going to be family friendly. Hah!

As for this movie that Servant is supposedly ripping off, well it looks like it stars that actress that ruins every movie for me that she is in. So I'll root for Apple.
