[doublepost=1492711341][/doublepost]i am a little bummed, finally caved and jumped on a nike model and yesterday was literally the last day i could have returned it, exact same damn thing when i upgraded to the jet black 7 and the next day the announce the (red) model, that i was fortunately enough able to return and get

It's just a band. Nothing to be bummed about.

this really required a team up?

btw what great marketing apple did with the watch.

you still think these actors are still at apple after this photo op?

BTW the heart rate data and gps of the watch are very inaccurate compared to other watches. But some of you guys will believe otherwise. https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2016/02/apple-watch-review.html "BUT I LOVE MY APPLE WATCH!! APPLE IS THE BESTEST IN THE WORLD!!"

The HR is junk for me , especially for gym workouts. What Apple needs is a HR in the band, not more bloody colour options like this Nike effort.

What an asinine analogy. I don't give a crap about your mother. I'm talking as one adult to I hope another. I've got a household to run; and I sure as hell have no time for third party disinformation campaigns encouraging me to squander my wealth on ``HDTV is better than SDTV'' product analogies. Spare me the bs.
But you've got plenty of time to come on here and be rude and arrogant?

Folks are entitled to their opinion and should be able to express them without folks like you jumping down their throats

You could buy this band MONTHS ago on Ali Express (3rd party lookalike band).

I think it looks cool, like a stormtrooper.
I highly doubt that you could buy this band on Ali Express, you could buy an approximation of the same color scheme in silicone rather than fluoroelastomer. I have seen third party sports bands that are of acceptable quality, I have not seen any that would pass for being the same as Apple's bands. They're not even the same material.

I think that other forum member you quoted has a valid point and you're not seeing his view point if you have not used a Garmin 630 before. Garmin is more tuned for longe range runners with a much more reliable GPS and calibrating accurate statistics over the Apple Watch. I like my Apple Watch too, but Garmin seems to be more refined in the accuracy portion, where as the Apple Watch is a decent tracker with more stable OS. Also, to help you understand more of what was stated, I would suggest trying the Garmin 630 if applicable and then make an appropriate assessment. But both Watches are great in different facets.

I'm in no way saying Garmins products isn't great or covering another part of the market - obviously they do or else they wouldn't have such great success with them. And I acknowledge they also provide a bigger amount of statistics and an online site and more.

As I said I would love to get more stuff on the AW - they already made it better with the watchOS updates, so might be miles better already this summer. But to say that after trying a Garmin watch you wouldn't say the AW is perfect for running just isn't fair in my mind - Different products and even though I'm running quite a lot (30 km run tomorrow) I must say this Watch Series 2 is just the best running buddy I've ever had. I've been using everything from iPod+Nike to a dedicated GPS watch and my iPhone - Room for improvement? Yes, but it's a damn great watch for me to motivate me and love it

All valid points on your behalf. And I'm also impartial to my Apple Watch. But I do think Garmin is making strides in certain areas and certainly growing.

Oh please, step off your soap box. Every adult on this forum has a budget, necessities to buy, required monthly payments to pay. You are not alone. But this is a tech blog. People come here because they like to discuss tech, what's coming, what's good, what's new, what's better, what they wish for, what they hate, etc. If it wigs you out when people suggest different tools than what you currently use them maybe you should pick a hobby. But certainly you should refrain from sticking your nose into posts that didn't specifically address you if you can't grasp there intention.

I've concluded the watch is not going to be another iPhone. It might be big business, but it's not huge.

Good, we ideally don't want Apple to have another iPhone, one is bad enough for us as Apple fans - the most big products they have the less smaller projects we get like this - I want niche projects not massive successes which makes it pointless for Apple to experiment with anything else.

My mom was happy with her SDTV. Does that mean she shouldn't try a HDTV? My point was that Apple is lagging in the running stats realm. Personally, yes I like to hear about new things and ideas even when I'm comfortable with what I have or know. It's called growth.

OP can try or not. I was just making a suggestion. It's up to him or her to decide what to try, buy, do in his or her life.

Not sure what your point is. I'm making a watch functionality to watch functionality comparison. Not sure how shoes figure in. Most runners buy the brand that fits their feet. For example I can't wear Nike shoes. I'm a Brooks and Mizuno guy. It's not about labels or brands, it's what my feet tell me. Asics were once my go-to but the toe box got to narrow. My point was Apple needs something more than the basic app they offer.
Does your garmin do anything except stat tracking? How does it handle calls and texts? Can you unlock your smart door locks with it? Can you use it to pay for goods? Or is it only good at 1 thing?

I have an Apple watch and it does what I need, but these color combos and bands do nothing for me.

Neither does talk of Series 3 or whatever. I've concluded the watch is not going to be another iPhone. It might be big business, but it's not huge.
The watch could never be another iPhone, I never understood why people would have thought this at the outset. The first issue - it only works with an iPhone. So at 100% uptake you aren't going to have more watches than iPhones. Second, a majority of the population doesn't wear a watch at all (Thanks in large part to the iPhone itself.) Third, those that wear watches tend to wear them as status symbols, and with that, they like to swap them out depending on what they are doing.

Combine that with the high price and slow software of Gen 1 and you get a really slow uptake. That said, the Apple watch is still doing well as a product. You can't go more than a day without seeing one on someones wrist if you look for it.

If Apple gives the series 3 wireless capabilities without needing a phone tether I think it could see a bit of a resurgence. Being able to leave the house without your phone would be a pretty huge change for people.

Love it how people harp on in most Apple watch threads about ''serious running watches''. Apple is mainstream, it builds products for the 80%. People like Nike branding, a lot of people run and do Sport, it does what is adequate but not what is niche to the mainstream.

The watch is a lifestyle product, nice to have but nowhere near essential, looks decent with the right strap combo, far more customization than a traditional watch, affordable to a lot of adults. It won't replace an iPhone, the same as it won't replace a Macbook!!

That's actually a pretty damn sexy looking watch overall, not even considering that it's an Apple watch. Great work by Nike.

I'm not a runner, but I'd love to have this version.

I'm confused. What's so unique about this one if all that is different (that I can see) is the color? Must been in the lab a long time to come up with a white & black color smash up.

Cream...it's cream. Do you know how hard it is to make a white band....cream? All I can say is they aren't playing it safe anymore. If there were an appropriate word for this moment, it would be....courage. Creamy Courage.

This band almost feels like Apple's response to many who say there are no watch bands that match the Space Grey AW.

If it had serious runner's GPS features and LTE (including all voice and data apps), it would be a great device, especially to pair with a real camera and a real laptop with pro features. But alas...

I'm tired of all-in-one's like the iPhone. For me, it's the worst of all worlds. Not big or powerful enough for productivity, too big to serve as an unobtrusive everyday communication device. My ideal tech world is totally reasonable and achievable - Jetson's style communication on your wrist (including secure financial transactions), with productivity on a 15" screen you can carry with you, but only when you need it. Photos? Best left to a real camera if, like me, you don't feel the need to constantly post your life for the world to follow.

Unfortunately, hardware vendors currently have little financial incentive to focus R&D on devices that can't serve you audio/video ads 24/7 on a screen big enough to view them, so this (totally achievable) tech scheme won't appear any time soon.

Apple, Inc. certainly is no Apple Computer. Jobs saw success in inventing useful technology. Cook only sees $ in enticing sheep to buy advertising equipment. It's great for the shareholders - not so much for the rest of us.

ehh, understandably bummed, but in the future, wait 7 months to buy the product and not 6, apple usually has these little mini-updates ~6 months in-between major releases. so that way you can make sure theres no extra update your missing out on.

** return tip from somebody who works in apple customer service, depending on where you bought it, if it was apple.com, online store reps can make exceptions up to 30 days without needing to talk to a manager, just tell them your having issues and want a refund or have a financial situation and they will make the exception.

if its in the retail store where you purchased it, bring it and the box in, immediately ask for a manager and tell them you were in yesterday(or what ever day the 13th day would be) and tell them you spent 2 hours waiting to for the return and never got helped and that you are upset, trust me, works almost every time.

as long as you don't directly tell us you want to return to buy the new one, we will be willing to work with you. we have a job to do and rules to follow yes, but most of of the time we are just people like you, and if you give us a good reason too, will look for any way around the system to help you out.
plenty of times I've been more then willing to argue with my management teams to get a return or refund set up for a customer well outside of the 14 days, (knowing damn well they were returning this 6s to buy the new 7, or needing to get a refund on their ipad they just bought because the new one was announced the day before) simply because they were nice, patient, and treated me with respect and didn't jump on the line screaming about how our return policy is BS.

Been rocking a series 1 SS and really want the aluminum for the light weight. What good timing :)
Will people gonna realize what the Series 1 is? ... it's not the orig Watch, a 2nd gen product and is not Stainless. 'Series 1 SS' does not exist.
I think Apple's new naming was to trick people and blur the shortcomings of the orig Watch..
