MSNBC was formed from MSN and NBC. Naturally they use Windows Media stuff, and if you try to load a video from their site on a Mac it says "MSN Video does not support your computer's operating system."
It's curious, though, that when I try and sync a list that includes a video clip I get a message that says I can't sync video to "this" iPod. Carefully chosen language?
It's possible that the current iPods with color screens COULD have the capability and I would love a portable movie file player (not a DVD player, movie files), but I think the screens for the current iPods are too small. They would have to change the form, etc and have a bigger screen. Apple knows if they give you a video iPod with the current 2 inch, they will be laughed at. I saw a image somewhere around these forums once that was supposed to the be the "new iPod" (read: hoax) that was about the same size, but you held it horizontally and the buttons were vertical. It looked like crap, but I'm sure if Apple DID do something along those lines it would look better.
Does that mean that if we predict that Apple will release a particular product "any day except Tuesday July 26" then that will cause Apple to release it that day? This power could come in handy. 😀
Doesn't anyone else think this is the new iPod Video?
OK so I posted my opinion that the "Video iPod" would actually be a Sony PSP and Apple would just make the money off the sale of the video (post #95). Obviously nobody else though so...
Engadget just posted that there's going to be a new PSP coming out on September 15th. This new WHITE Playstation Portable has the following new functionality: Browser, WPA Wireless, Wireless Picture 'swapping', and Portable TV/transmitting video directly to the PSP. The original already has H264 capability.
Existing PSP owners can upgrade their players to the V2 firmware at that time...

I don't think Apple would want to miss out on the margins from associated hardware sales. And I think they'd prefer a hard drive based device, rather than the Sony proprietory media (memory sticks and UMD).
