They might be intentionally delaying the M2 Air because it's the obvious pick over this model. Not sure why they bothered with this one.

Because while they will not sell as many millions as they will M2 Airs, they will still sell millions of them over the next 12 months.

A good corporate computer. It plugs a hole for companies that need to issue a decent updated Mac, similar to what they gave out last year. I think most companies won't issue Macbook Airs to their technical/engineering staff, and don't want to jump to 2K a pop for a higher end model if the user can't justify the need. They'll probably sell a good chunk of these to corporate accounts, for another year.

As an engineer I can't imagine anyone issueing macbooks to technical/engineering staff... They would make better paperweights than computers. Literally nothing I do can be done on a mac.

You do not represent ALL technical/engineering staff.

At our company, everyone can choose between a Windows or Mac laptop. From what I can see looking around about a third choose the Mac. The developers and IT staff seem to get along just fine with Macs.
