As an ally I’m not offended. I merely suggested the enforced narrative is worn out and you are here to help validate.

This you, ally bro?

Wish they would stop shoving this stuff down our throat. The social engineering has jumped the shark in modern society. Stick to building devices. Nobody cares about your support of "the new thing" or old in this case..... nobody cares what your preferences are.

Because that doesn't sound like an ally to me.

it is under attack but you have to wait for the attack? I personally think let the state marry any consenting adults, just don't force it on religious communities, so if a church, mosque or synagogue want to keep to the tenants of their faith, don't try and force them. As far as I am aware marriage is a religious thing as well, in its origins at least. Not sure why anyone would want to get married if not for religious reasons.

You and I agree on this. There are financial reasons or even healthcare reasons why a couple would want to marry. The reason I supported gay marriage originally was due to the 14th Amendment and its protections. I do believe that churches should be able to not perform the ceremonies, if they so choose. Couple can go to government offices and have a legal ceremony performed or they can hire someone licenses to perform them.

That's not your concern anyhow. Live and let live ;)

Yes -- that's how the SC has been going after things .. weakening around the edges and setting decision precedent that puts things at risk in future judgements. It's a long game they play.

"Women" know about this as it relates to abortion.

Well, constitutionally, the Dobbs decision was the correct decision and abortion going back to the states is appropriate. See the 10th Amendment on that.

I'm open to listening and learning from any examples you can provide where the court has weakened gay marriage "around the edges".

Marriage was historically a financial arrangement between families. In fact, marriage was not even under the purview of the Christian church until the High Middle Ages.

That said, I certainly do not agree with forcing churches to perform same-sex marriages, but this does not occur anyway, so it was never really an issue.

It is a concern when there is potential to try and force people who do not hold the same views to do something that goes against their faith. So live and let live, even if they don't agree with you. It always seems to go the other way though, someone says live and let live, but only if you agree.

I feel awful for LGBTQ+ among us for all they have to put up with just to "exist".
To be honest I’ve never felt like a victim or second class. It’s just that stuff gets old. I’ve been lucky. Like others have said, most everyone has been pretty nice. We had neighbors a few years ago who wouldn’t speak to us but they were fine with everyone else. I always wonder if the repairman that comes to the house will be cold when he sees both of us. If someone assumes my spouse is a woman am I an activist if I correct them. I’ve been lucky though so no complaints.

@Blackstick and @VisceralRealist you guys are talented at posting laughing emojis, I give you props for your abilities on that. If you disagree with something I said though, let's talk about your disagreement rather than resorting to that tactic. Make your point with words.
I made my point on Page 1.

Conservatives have a massive problem showing empathy or compassion for those in a situation they are not. If you want to sell me on an idea they're open and accepting of gay and trans people? You're gonna have to sell a lot harder.

It always shocks me how right wing some of the MacRumors members are. They're clueless to the fact that Apple Inc is chock full of LGBTQIA software engineers, project managers, retail store staff, executives, sushi chefs -- you name it. I worked on a bluetooth QA team in Cupertino for 4 years and I was the only heterosexual on it.

The Supreme Court being 6-3... gay marriage lasting, isn't guaranteed.

I'd just assume you're not homophobic, until you say or do otherwise. Saying you're an 'ally' is just virtue signalling, cringe and patronising now.
Claiming virtue signaling has grown old fast.

Personally, I appreciate someone who says they’re an ally. A college friend often wore a Straight but not Narrow shirt back when it wasn’t so cool.

I’m surprised they haven’t gotten an LGBT celebrity designer or stylist to design these for them. I mean, if they can get Kim K to design two shades of gray for a Beats Pill speaker…

Whatever intern they have coming up with these past few designs have missed the mark.

The Unity bands usually look well-designed though.

It gets uglier and uglier each year. I hope they re-release the original rainbow band at least as an option. That was actually nice and since then it’s becoming worse and worse.
I’ve actually had a feedback request in for them to add the original, non-controversial, 6 colour rainbow flag back in as a wallpaper option rather than replacing it with the so-called “progress” pride flag (which seems to become more ridiculous at every iteration).

I submitted that in 2022 and it’s been ignored of course, as most of them are.

I disagree and frankly am a bit shocked. I’m not religious at all but I was thrilled to get married. It’s a legal declaration as well as a personal declaration. You immediately get many legal benefits via marriage.

Apple’s CEO is openly gay. Why would they not show support to the LGBT community?

No one is forcing you to buy it.

At least in the US it’s broadly a financial one, more than a religious one. Married couples never can testify against each other in court, you have immediate rights of survivorship… and the tax benefits are enormous. As single filers I’d owe the IRS $65,000. Being married with kids cuts that tax liability in half.

It’s also status. Almost every leader and manager in my company is married, most have kids. Other humans figure, “he has a wife who likes him and two cute kids; I’m sure he can babysit 12 of our engineers without drama.”

It’s a club of sorts. When you show up with that wedding ring and say “oh my daughter this, my son that…” if the interviewer/hiring manager has that as a shared experience, it’s a leg up.

Same crap in this thread as every year.

Even though Trump appointed a gay married guy with kids as secretary of the treasury. (Yay, our money is gay now!) doesn’t mean the fight for pride and visibility is over. I can pass as straight, I’m 50, and white, so I’ll be fine whatever happens. But I’ll be at the pride parade every year supporting my gay black, trans, queer, + friends even here in trumplandia Southwest Florida.
