So when does the iPhone SE get a refresh? Because I have no interest in a 5.8" monster cell phone. Even the 4.7" [6, 7, & 8] are too big to hold in, rather than on, my hand. I was hoping they'd give a nod to the small phone legion, but I'm glad I didn't hold my breath. *sigh*

So what's so special about this thing that you can't do with an iPhone 6s or 8? Cool, it has a 5.8" screen. But it still runs iOS which means you can't do many useful things with it and it's treated and used in pretty much the same way as an iPhone 6s. A 2 year old device.

"Unless you have an identical twin" you see, TouchID doesn't care about that since even identical twins have different finger prints. So there's that. Now we're waiting for a price.
Yeah, the iPhone X is pretty underwhelming to be honest. And as someone who has used Windows Phone for the last 1/2 decade, I really don't see things like "swipe up to unlock" to be revolutionary. In fact, I find the touch to wake to be more of a pain than a good thing.

My takes on the X's key features...

The notch
I myself could get used to that. Getting an extra line's worth of space could be nice, and doing away with the network name as well (since in the US, roaming is a thing of the past). However, I could see that being a concern if you travel internationally and want to know what network you're on there. I could legitimately see other people preferring the traditional horizontal bar. It would be neat if there were an option to put that in for those that want more stuff displayed at a glance (although I doubt it).

No physical home button
IIRC, you swipe up to reveal the Control Center that also contains the Virtual Home button? I do like on my LG G4, swiping from up reveals the Android Notification bar, whereas swiping from down reveals the Home Touch buttons. Plus, I can go into the phone's settings and individually customize which apps I want this to be hidden, and which to be always on.

Looks neat, but I'm curious, not excited. And with ANY phone, if it costs more than $300, then I'll check it out when it drops below that price.

I'm actually more impressed about the way Apple use the edge to edge display. No on-screen buttons, all with gestures. Google can learn from that. I really hate the ugly implementation of Android with on-screen buttons.

From a usability standpoint, I would much rather have buttons, thank you very much. Granted, I'm a bit of a tech-head and know what it is I'm doing, but I shudder to think how something like this would effect someone like my mother.

So Samsung skipped the numbers 6 and 7 for their note line and Apple decided to copy and skip straight to ten. I hope Samsung is nice enough to not sue.
