Now it makes sense why Apple dropped 'Plus' for the iPhones and went with 'Max' instead.

So what are they charged with, USB-C or Lightning? And what does the L stand for in the mesh inside cups? 'LIGHTNING'? :p

At least they didn’t call them pro or studio, neither of which is possible with these! Without a wire, headphones are useless for recording music.
But Max is a stupid name. And Apple really doesn’t know how to read a room. Who’s gonna spend $550 on headphones in 2020? Unless you’re able to pay for these in installments like the iPhone?

Sort of like the pricing of the first HomePod but more extreme.

People who really like good headphones (or are "audiophiles") will already have their own niche brand and pay more for that.

But for people who don't care as much, this is too expensive. You can almost buy a Mac for this much. Heck, you could buy four wheels from Apple and have enough left over for AirPods Pro.

Um... 1 hour of active listening??

Nicer than the mock ups, but I’d wait for a substantial sale before considering these.
That'll be coming mid to late next year. Same **** as all their other Hifi offerings. Remeber the **** Apple HiFi or even the more recent Homepod that barely anyone bought. All heavily discounted, especially before discontinuation (HiFi). This will be similar.

I'm okay with the price tag.

But if and only if it's lossless on Wireless (at least 44khz 16 bit without any lossy compression, as I'll use it with Tidal)

But if for this price tag I get a 256kbps AAC recompression as with the standard airpods, then no, thanks, I wouldn't even buy for $100.
Super curious about this as well.

well it all depends on how they sound to people for audio. I have "expensive" headphone that I have to plug into a device which I enjoy listening to music with, but now less over time because of the connection mode. sure these new AirPods headphones look sexy but it is all about the sound and wearing comfort with a headphone. as to price, a lot of people will do the HomePod thing to them, Siri sucks on them or the price for them is too high compared to standard AirPods. only real listening reviews, tech specs. and time will tell how this shakes out. I would consider buying them if reviews say they sound really good, but I really don't know how much I would use them to push me into actually buying them.

I’ve been a radio air personality for over 30 years and headphones are lifeline. NO WAY would I spend that money on headphones. Get yourself a great pair of Bose or Sony Headphones for half the price and double the quality.

I wonder how good the noise cancellation is relative to the Bose/Sony/Sennheisers top of the line models? Unless it is significantly better the price is way out of line for how I use headphones; which is for NC when on a plane. Comfort is important as well, because after 6+ hours my Bose 700's get uncomfortable.

Now for audiophiles, assuming their performance is comparable to the better ones, the priuce is not out of line.
