Apple Announces App Store Changes, Including Expanded Pricing Up to $10,000

The number 1 problem with the App Store that everyone can see is the way that the ratings are calculated. They allow tons of obvious fake app reviews so apps get inflated 4.5 stars, then you go sort by "lastest" and every review is talking about how the apps don't work and are scams. So many examples. Someone is paying people to create accounts and leave positive reviews, which are fairly easy to identify even by machine. Let's take Amazon for example. They have been so successful as a company because people trust the reviews (again some issues). When the consumer knows they can trust the reviews and ratings, then the consumers, the developers, and the platform all profit from the built trust in the system.

Drats they’re going to moderate and accept applications for apps over $1,000.

I was hoping to pay $3,000 for “bestweatherapp.io”

I wonder how many devs are going to jump on the $0.29 pricepoint, or if the majority will keep the $0.99 entry level app price? Seems like it's a lot more affordable for consumers if that's the case.
.29 subscriptions.

It’s over 9,000!
Love this.

With that said, a $10k app would probably be some specialized app for a very niche market.

They should reduce the pricing of the Developer membership.

Honestly, $99/year is actually very cheap for all the stuff that gets provided. It'd be nice but I worry about a price _increase_.

Apple says the new price points and foreign exchange rate management option will be available for apps offering auto-renewable subscriptions
So the $10k could be a monthly fee ?

$0.29 subscriptions, yes. But also $0.29 apps. The lowest they can go is 29¢ but the highest is now $10K.
Of course. I mean just that .29 is likely going to be mostly subscription rates sincew it seems all the apps these days are subscription only.

The app they developed in Big Bang Theory? "Leonard mentions they may make a little money off the app, leading Howard to imagine building a place over the garage to escape his mother with the money, and Raj dreams of taking pretty girls on 'Submarine Rides'." (Big Bang Theory Fandom Wiki).

Seriously though - Apps for niche needs like tuning instruments, medical diagnostics could have that high a cost to offset the development work for a small market.

Who in the world would buy an app that costs $10,000? I can buy a Mac Pro with wheels and still have extra with that money.
