Apple Announces App Store Changes, Including Expanded Pricing Up to $10,000

I wonder what legitimate reasons there would be to price an app that is publicly available on the App Store at $1,000 USD, let alone 10x that.
Probably super technical apps for specialized industries, where you're only expected to sell a few hundred copies or so.

This is just dumb. There should be no apps that cost more then a couple hundred dollars. People are getting greedy and think people are stupid. I wanted to purchase a coloring app for my daughter that she liked but no you couldn’t just buy it. You had to subscribe. And the worse part is they want $9.99 a WEEK! That’s $520 a year!!! For a kids coloring app!!! And you can’t just buy an app anymore. Everyone wants you to subscribe. And you can’t just buy a game without having “in app” purchases. I’m getting close to the point of just dumping the whole eco system. No more apps, or games, or digital movies, or music, or subscriptions. I’m going to go back to buying hard copies of things I want.

Make it possible for organizations to purchase 50 photoshop licenses at once trough Apple Business essentials, in app. Or possibly lifetime scam VPN subscription (in app 9999$) 😄 "Future proofing The App Store"

$10,000 will prob be the BMW app since they wanna nickel and dime everyone with their new subscriptions for things like heated seats etc.
LOL. Maybe the app would be the "key" to start one's BMW. $10,000 would be the subscription fee to run the car over a 1 year period. Buyer alert: $10k subscription fee does not come with pre-paid gas or electricity; you gotta supply that on your own. LOL.

The idea the app store goes beyond $100 is not really logical for 99,999% of all users and for that reason I really think they should consider moving all apps above an extra layer of inconvenience to avoid errors, misuse, and scams.
I'm not sure I agree. When a family member developed aphasia due to ongoing illness, an oft-used app to help with aphasics cost over $200, as I recall. I wish I remember the name of that specialized app, but at that time some 10+ years ago came highly recommended as a communication tool for those with aphasia.

Update: Found it!! It's called Proloquo2Go by AssistiveWare. In the US store, it's currently listed as $249.99 with additional in-app purchase for "Gateway vocabulary" of $149.99. While we ended up not using assistive software, I can imagine what a godsend such apps can be. Specialized software like this does not come cheap especially when the cost of development is high and it is application not used by the general public but rather by a specialized population.

I cannot understand why Apple doesn’t just let you type your price

I know doing it like this takes care of pricing in other currencies in a clean way but surely people in other countries will be fine with just paying the equivalent of the original price in their native currency?
