I think Sir Jony may have had some "inspiration" on this one from awhile back. :)

wow the trolls are out in full force today. I see a lot of the usual suspects.

Not sure if I will buy this watch, I'm leaning toward no. It's not a bad watch, and I like the health aspects of it. I'll have to try it out, and see if it brings any value to me.

Each of the watches is available in two separate screen sizes for different sized wrists: 38mm and 42mm, and the watches have a flexible, durable sapphire display.

This makes it sound like all have sapphire displays. According to the specs given, this is not true. The Sport addition for some reason has "ion glass or some such", not sapphire. Which is odd because you'd think scratching might be a big problem with sports, but perhaps sapphire's brittleness (lesser impact resistance) was a bigger problem.

I _love_ the band connection design. We’ll see some killer 3rd party options no doubt.

Like armbands, or even something like a pocket watch chain - you could do a cover + hinge for the bottom [band] connector and the chain for the top - or heck, like a slider case with a side cover and make a locket, or something open and have like a live/living/animated necklace.

Neat.

i'm not sure how Apple Pay works with the watch. One of the big things about Apple Pay was that it used TouchID to verify it is you. The watch doesn't have Touch ID. Will that make it even more attractive for theft? Beyond it being an expensive piece of jewelry, now it links to your credit card and can be used to buy things without needing biometric authorization.
Clearly you missed a bit. In the morning when you put it on you pair and approve the Watch. Once you take it off (because of the sensors on the back) it automatically is deacivated and can no longer be used until you go through the pairing/approval process again.

So if it is stolen it becomes useless the minute it's removed from your wrist.

Now, the only group of people who I think would benefit from this tech are women (who keep their phone in their purses) -- but the watches are all bulky and unfashionable, I'd be shocked if any woman would be caught dead wearing one.

Oh, geez, I'm so glad you're here to speak for all of us women, being that you're a man, you must know what we want since of course women can't decide for themselves, or speak for themselves. And of course we'll all want the same thing, just like we ALL use purses.

And that's the whole point. A lot of people don't want to have to carry multiple devices around with them. Now they have to, if they want the watch.

One device? Now we need 2 of them. I think Jobs understood it better with his one device speech.

Carrying more than one device? You mean like both an iPhone and an iPad like so many larger screen haters have suggested people like me do in the past? :p This will be a phone in the pocket (or purse) depending on the outfit and something I wear on my wrist. Me thinks thou doth protest too much.

I'm still trying to figure out what the point in this watch? The only "cool" aspect I see is the health, that's it. I can do pretty much everything else with my iPhone. $349 is STEEP for a watch and I have not wore a watch for about ten years now.

no talk about battery life, huh?

Maybe that's why they're not releasing it till 2015. They want to tweak the battery on this thing. It's been a constant headache for them since day one. For many people Pebble is all we'll ever need for now.

1. Make it slimmer
2. Add sensors in wristband to measure blood sugar levels.

I would buy it at any price.

This is underwhelming to say the least.

The hype definitely did not live up to the reality this keynote.

Unfortunately the lack of GPS is a deal killer for me. Some interesting tech to be sure but the signature app for me was replacing my phone as a run tracker. If I have to run with my phone what do I need the watch for? I haven't worn a timepiece in over 20 years so I don't need it for that. The heart rate monitor would be a bonus but as it stands it looks like I'll have to keep running with my phone...which I'll now need some kind of arm strap for as it's way to big to carry like I do my 4s. Maybe for v2

Out of curiosity what do those of you that plan to buy these see as your selling feature? I just don't see what it does that my phone can't do save monitor my heart...since I need both anyway it's gotta offer me something unique besides strapping to my arm.

My only complaint is that I won't be wearing one because It doesn't seem useful enough to me at the moment for the price. I will most likely wait until the second generation.

i have no idea what you guys are talking about with bitching about the thickness.

I think this design is pretty horrible but from the looks of it, this watch seems to be only 10-15mm thick, which is totally in line with any non-quartz sport watches.

it has a sapphire crystal and waterproof casing as well as battery.
these things all add to the thickness and there is a physical limit to how thin watches can be made with these components.

Ugliest Thing

Apple Watch is literally the ugliest piece of "technology" (if thats what you can call that) I have ever seen. The User Interface is extremely ugly and feels completely separate from the iOS and OS X counterparts, there is no visual similarities between any thing. It feels out of place and clunky. That home screen is disgusting too... most of the concepts on YouTube were WAYYYYYYY better than this piece of garbage. And NO I am not a troll or an Android fan boy but there is no denying that Android Wear has the better interface and the Apple Watch would look better on a round display.
