On the apple store, all of the prices for each product has NZ- $___ on it. The price is increased... What happened, am I on a different setting or something? Confused, I want the old prices back :D

We got screwed by the NZ US exchange rate. Currently $1.00 NZ will get 54c US.

This will be my first Apple computer so anything Apple gives for a discount will be great for me. However, I someone mentioned the education discount along with the Black Friday sale....someone said they don't stack discounts, someone else said that they were.... How about the Federal Government discount? Do you think if I asked at the Apple store today they would give me accurate information? I'm also thinking about picking up a couple of ipods....

Hey great, there are discounts also in Europe !!!

Do you have an idea how high the discounts will be ?

education store sales?

Do the Black Friday sales usually apply to the Education Store as well???? The Ed Store already has Macbook prices $100 lower than the retail price.

Twas the midnight after Thanksgiving,
and all through the house,
everyone was shopping,
for their new mighty mouse.

They'll purchase a new MacBook,
single-piece aluminum,
then have it gift wrapped,
and sent straight to them.

Paying the bill
for a new Cinema Display,
they'll say, "that's not so bad,
that price is ok!"

Continuing on
with a Thanksgiving tradition,
they'll be done Christmas shopping-
they'll be done with their mission.

Seems like every year christmas is more and more about spending money.

YES YOU CAN!

Hey everyone!
Everyone who has said that you can't get educational discount as well as the discount on Friday, you are wrong!
Look at this page

http://store.apple.com/uk-edu

it's the educational store with the friday discount ad on it!
Also I've just asked an Apple Genius on the online web chat and asked her and she said of course you can!

By the way have iMacs been discounted in the past? If there are that would be awesome, about £300 of a iMac! WooWhoo! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

The discounts usually just cover tax. At least the edu discount does. And it seemed that way last time. $10 of an ipod. $10 to me is not worth dealing with all the madness. I'll go any normal time and pay $10 more. Also normally just the large computers. I don't think headphones or cases get discounted. If apple tv does I might get one. Doubt it though. Even then discount is so small. Still not worth it.

Where did you get $300 off?

Also if you can add the student on top then that would make a difference. $1271 OTD for the backlit macbook would be nice. Still can't get one though  well, maybe not. I just assumed 20% and don't feel like looking up what the edu price is.

Moral of the story, probably not worth the hassle.

So you're telling me a puny 10% is going to draw a ton of customers?

I don't know (or care) about a ton, but it's certainly going to draw me. I've been waiting for this sale to buy an aluminum Macbook, and if I get 10% off I'll be more than happy.

If Apple is indeed calling it a "Black Friday" sale, it doesn't deserve that name unless they are prepared to offer Black Friday-like discounts. (which they most certainly will not)

"Black Friday-like discounts"? Is there some threshold that has to be met to call it a Black Friday sale? Is there a government agency that oversees that?

What about refurbs?

Can anyone remember from last year if refurbed Macs and iPods were eligible for BF discounts? They're already cheaper but an extra rebate certainly won't hurt. I'll go for a refurb iPod if the price goes down a bit; if not, I'll keep my money for a better opportunity later

aluminum macbook

If they even lower the aluminum macbook 1$ dollar i will be extremely pissed off....I just bought it the other 15 days ago under the assumption there wouldn't be additional sales...i got 2 faulty machines so they gave me an additional 100$ off ...but still the price of the macbook alum is f'n ridiculous compared to the other laptops out there.

Meh........ Modest discounts, if that.

If we're simply inventing standards, here, then there are no Black Friday sales this year.

Stereotypical quote time: "With the economy how it is," all deals at all retailers "need" to be better. It'd be a lackluster year without a recession, and no one seems to care enough not to buy.

If yo don't like it, don't buy it. No company that wants to make any sort of money would ever say, "Oh, they're buying them at this price, let's lower it anyway!"

NO. If people buy it at that price, then Apple will continue to sell it at that price. You only have the right to be upset at the price if you don't buy it at that price at all.

I've been wanting to get a new MacBook, so I'll wait til Friday and see what deal they do on their online store. I can get the educational discount, and from hearing what you guys said about past ones, I'm not getting my hopes up... but will be surprised if they do make it cheaper than edu :)

Microsoft Live is offering a 25% rebate off ebay buy it now purchases. I've used it to buy four of the new nanos and and a 16GB ipod touch. I bought from a NY Apple retailer (Datavision Computer Video) and had absolutely no problems.

I have been reluctant to use it on computer purchases though. For my new MBP, I bought from Amazon because of their excellent return policy. In retrospect, I'm glad I went through Amazon because I had to do a couple of exchanges.
